What pen doesn’t smudge on a coffee table book that’s our guest book?

What about fine tip permanent markers in gold and silver?? I’ve never tried it, but I would think permanent markers wouldn’t smudge.

We made a photo book for the guest book, similar idea – it has glossy pages.  We are copying this idea:

I my experience something like a standard Bic ball point smudges least often, but it really depends on how glossy the paper is and exactly what type of coating it has.  Can you experiment with a cheaper book?

I’m planning on using Sharpies, and, like shelliduke said, trying to wait for the ink to dry.

But you can use ballpoint pens, too — they should work. As long as guests don’t rub the ink, it should be fine. =) If you have any old textbooks for university, give them a try; the paper’s about the same quality.

Do you have any books with the same kind of paper that you could try different pens on? If not, maybe go buy a cheap book at the bookstore that is similar and use that.

What a cute idea! We also had a photo guest book with glossy pages. Our photographer recommended fine point sharpies, and they worked really well. We just used black, but I’m sure if you looked around you could find more colors to use.

I love that so many people are using coffee table books as guest books now!  We have the same issue with ours, and we’re planning on using a fine point sharpie.  It seems to work just fine, and pretty much dries before you are done writing.

See this link for some coffee table guestbooks:

We used a coffee table book for guest book (featuring our engagement pictures), and Sharpies worked well! The don’t bleed through, and don’t smear or transfer to the opposite page.

We actually bought a photo pen (marker) at Micheals and it works great. It made for writing on glossy photo paper.

Bees!!! I just found and bought a marvelous pen today!!!! It is called: SAKURA MICROPERM 05 (permanent ink. Applicable on non-pourous surfaces). I bought it at michaels. Unfortunately it only comes in black (which is fine for us). I just tried it on an old pic and it works!!! It dried in literally less than 2 seconds! Hope this helps.

As I’m writing this, I realize that this post is two years old!! Haha. Nonetheless… I found the pen! Haha!

Any of these ladies that might still be on wedding bee… 7 years later has anyone noticed any fading of the sharpie signatures on the pages of the photo books?
