My dress was 7% of the budget. It was one of my priorities, so I just tried to be a bit more economical in some other areas.

@gingerkitten:  My dress alone is roughly 10% plus a little extra for the veil etc. We’re not having the cheapest wedding but we’re also not spending what we believe to be an absolute fortune.. It might be for some but it’s what we’re happy with and its what we can afford! 🙂

My dress including the sash was a little over $2,000 not including alterations so I voted for 1-10%.

My dress was $150 and alterations were $400. I think 1-10% is too big a band to deliver interesting insights.

I had a very big budget wedding in NYC.  My attire, including alterations, veil, sash and shoes was 3% of my total budget.  I wanted to spend the extra money on a videographer instead of a more expensive dress!

@gingerkitten:  I did not really have dress budget…FI said to go try dresses and if I fell in love with one come home and we can talk about price. In the end it was $3,000 and the rest of the wedding will be under $10,000.

@gingerkitten:  same as you! My dress was about 3% of the budget. However, my best friend made it from scratch! I paid for the sash and the 20m of French lace the dress required.

$500 versus our $10-12K budget.  So about 3-4%.  I could never spend 1K on a dress that I will wear for 12 hours considering both FI and I make minimum wage and I work 3 jobs.

Mine was around 7%, but I have to have some minor alterations done so I’m guessing it will end up around 8% by the end.

@gingerkitten:  I don’t include my dress in our budget, so I voted 0. I decided on my own separate budget for the dress with what I was willing to spend and save. My dress cost 1k, my budget for the dress was 1500. Our wedding budget is 7k.

Less than 1% ! Lol. I spent $120 on my dress ($190 with alterations) and our total expenditures added up to $17,000.

10%. after alterations the dress will cost about $2500. and we are planning to spend $20,000 to $25,000 for the entire wedding.
