I’m taking DHA capsules, and folic acid. Prenatals are a little too heavy-handed for my diet so I’m just taking what I don’t get enough of naturally. If my doctor says “Take prenatals” then I will, but so far he’s happy with this concoction.
My mom used to work in a health food store so when I actually am pregnant, I’ll see if there’s anything she recommends.

I started with Rainbow Light mini’s (you have to take 3 a day). When I ran out, I took Women’s One a Day prenatal and DHA. When that ran out I switched back to Rainbow Light but went with their single pill option, plus their DHA supplement.
As far as the comments about prenatals being harmful…I’m personally more concerned about the proven link between spina bifida and lack of folic acid in early pregnancy than I am about a maybe, hypothetical link that folic acid could contribute to ASD. I mean…lack of understanding about what causes ASD is also what helped fuel the whole anti-vaccine movement, and that’s still an issue even after there’s been tons of evidence that there isn’t a true link there. Also, after seeing a friend raise a child with sever spina bifida, and the struggles they’ve gone through with her health I never thought twice about taking prenatals.
I will say, when I’m not pregnant I’m not a big believer in supplements. I’d rather get my nutrients from food whenever possible. Plus, there is definitely such a thing as too much during pregnancy. DH has a co-worker who’s wife is very health concious and loaded up on all kinds of supplements and vitamins during pregnancy, and now their son (I think he’s around 6) has very serious health issues and allergies that doctor’s have flat out told her were due to her over use of vitamins and supplements during pregnancy…so definitely check with your doctor if you’re planning to take anything that isn’t specifically designed for prenatal use.

I am using Preg-vit which is a perscription 2x a day vitamin. I tried materna, honibee and new roots before and they made my stomach very upset! I seem to be doing well on this one.

I use the Naturemade prenatals with DHA- doesn’t make me feel sick at all and they have them at Costco!
