first thing that comes to mind? chapstick.
i also LOVE my cell phone and nail files.
my electric blanket and heated mattress pad. LOL I scorekeep ice hockey games so the blanket keeps me very warm when i'm spending 5-6 hours in a COLD ice rink. and the mattress pad is the best for those cold winter nights, and even cramps! lol
Thought of one more- breadmaker. I haven't bought bread in over two years, it's cheaper, healthier, and there is nothing better than a PBJ with homemade bread.
@mmr66: There was a time when I couldn't live without my heated mattress pad either. Sadly, FI hated it when he used to sleep over at my place, and now that we're sharing a bed, I don't see it ever making a reappearance. Luckily, he's a furnace himself, so he'll just have to put up with my cold feet!
I couldn't live without some form of book in my purse for when I get bored. Thank goodness my dad gave me a Kobo for my birthday - it's so much lighter, and carries so much more!
iPhone, Body Shop Brazil Nut Body Butter, V-Neck T-shirts and Bioderma cleanser.
Weird randomness, I know. But each item is a must have for me everyday :)
our home is curently construction chaos so the things I realized I can't live without any more are:
Kitchen sink with running water
Flooring that does not snag socks
A working heater in the bedroom
and other than that, good quality hair ties without those little metal things on them.
Oh also, gotta add a beauty product: my Clarisonic. I never realized how much makeup was left on my face after I "washed it" each night until I started using one of them.
Chapstick. I no joke, have 2-3 in almost every drawer in the house in every room. My car has back up too. And I know it sounds silly bc I can always get the actual books, but I would seriously break apart if I lost my kindle.
Is it wrong to say my blackberry? The world is just in my pocket with wifi and internet access, all my friends on fb and phone numbers?

@globalmargaret: I feel your pain! A few years back I was living with my mom in an old house she had gotten & was renovating... we didn't have hot water almost ALL winter!
@Shosha1: my SO HATES mine when he's at my house. We've decided that when we move in together we'll get one with dual controls so his side can be off and mine can be on! lol
There's lots of things that make life better, but I'd be pretty miserable if I had to live without:
This thread makes me so envious of all of the apple product owners, I have a macbook(4 year old), still going strong but due to not knowing where I will be for the next few years I cannot get a iPhone I want so bad and I am waiting for the new iPad as it should be out in a few months....that said
I could not live without my car (horrible public transit where I live)

and i'm sure whenever i end up with the apple items metioned above they will be included in this list (I didnt think I could live without a smart phone before I moved and had to cancel my contract)
iPhone when I'm at work. I don't care much about it when I'm home. It's saved me through boring nights and sitting on 1:1s.
Other than that, I would have to say my EOS lip balm. The winter makes my lips insanely horrible.
@Shosha1:My Fi too. Hates heat of any form, and he puts the fan on during the winter. Good lord, for someone that is cold all of the time, I was having a hard time. At least he's warm =]
My SLR, green tea, and my Burt's Bee chapstick. Seriously I can't go to sleep if I don't put it on before I crawl into bed (winters in Wisconsin are super dry even with our humidifier running).
If I HAD to choose one item, it would be my favorite chapstick!!!!! Can't stand having chapped lips.
