You could just use Paint to do that. What’s the default on your computer when you open a photo?

Are you on a mac or a pc? I think there is a program on a PC that is free. I need to ask my friend about it, though.

You could do it through powerpoint too. Insert the photo, add a text box and customize as wanted.  Then just do File > Save As and choose .jpg.

The fastest and easiest way is to use Picnik.

@spraguebride: I don’t know anything about Picasa, but with Paint you just open the photo in Paint. and in the sidebar on the left pick the big A which is for text. Make a text box where you want it to go (drag a box with your mouse), and then select your font, size, etc and there you go!

I think Picnik and Picasa are linked now…. so you should be able to edit in Picasa. Though I’ve never used it.

I personnaly don’t think Paint is very user friendly – but maybe that’s because I’m used to Fireworks which has so many more options.

There’s a similar application to Photoshop but it’s free! It’s called “Gimp” (just google it and it should come up!)

It might take a little getting used to using it if you’re not already used to photoshop or other photo editing programs, but it does basically all the same things, just in a little different way 🙂
