I’m planning a wedding long distance an am penciled in for my date at the venue that I am 99.9999% sure I want. I’m meeting with the planner at the venue in about two weeks and I want to make sure I ask all the important questions before laying down the money.
I already know the basic things like capacity and catering, but did anyone go in with a detailed list? Suggestions? Things you wished you had asked? I appreciate the advice!

When will we have a food tasting (if they provide the food)?
What do servers wear?
When is the venue available to us on our wedding day?
Are you able to coordinate with other vendors if they need to get into the space before that time?
What are bar optioins and costs? Is there a max or min number of hours the bar can be open?
What are cake cutting options and costs?
When can we have rehearsal (if ceremony is in the same space)?
How will room layout be decided?
What’s your standard room layout?
Do you have preferred or required vendors for anything?
Is there a DOC?
Who is the manager? Will they act as DOC? What do they do?
If said manager is sick who is in charge?
Do you host more than one event per day?
What’s the maximum # of guests you can accomodate?
What does site fee include? Linens? Tables? Silverware? Plates? etc….
Where do guests park?
Can we bring in decorations? When?
What is your policy on candles?
ETA: What will you do to accomodate special dietary needs?

Don’t know if your venue is also a hotel.. but if so, ask about group rates for out of town guests and for you and your fiance. If you’re having an open bar.. other guests may be interested in this too.
Also ask about gratuity.. if it’s figured in or if there’ll be a bill at the end of the night..
Ask about the deposit..
Make sure to see how large your dance space is.. is it big enough (if you need one)
As far as the catering.. ask if you’re allowed to substitute anything.. is punch/coffee/tea included?
Can you bring your own champagne for the toast?
Can you bring in outside catering/cake
Will they still cut the cake if you bring it in from outside? If so, what’s the fee?
What time do you need to be out of there? Will they set up and tear down for you or do you need to find someone to do that?
