Which room, space or area of your home gives you the happiest pleasure?
Is it your art studio in your basement? Your kitchen where you cook family meals? Your bedroom? Your garden? Tell me what you love about your favorite space in your home and what you do to make it your special place?
The FI and I will be moving within the next 6-8 months and I can easily see the bathroom or the bedroom being the spaces where I initially lay down the most money, time and effort into making them wonderful. Give me a clawfoot tub and I’ll be set for life.

One of the basement rooms is my smoking lounge. Complete with couch. loveseat, comfy chair, TV, stereo, and a wood-burning fireplace. Oh and an air cleaner!

@trueblue14: I always like to think its not so much my room but my bed. If I am ever having an off day or moment. I just like being snuggled up in my bed. I always have to have a particular comforter set with matching throw pillows. I also have to have tons of pillows. TONS.
I also have a greenhouse. When I had time, pre-grad school – that was MY little heaven. Especially in the winter, not as much in the summer. i loved being warm in my little 8 by 12 outside clear house when it was so cold outside. And I loved the transition from walking outside where everything was brown, dead and frost bitten to inside that little house where everything was green, lush and colorful. It literally felt like I stepped into another world.

@SparkleBee11: That sounds amazing!
I agree – we don’t have a ton of money after moving but one thing we are not cheaping out on is the bed and bedding – it will be our NEST!

The whole home… I very much have the “your home is your castle” mentality. The world can’t come through that door if I’ve had enough of it for the day, and everyone and everything in my home, feels like “home.”
I guess my favorite places are, in order:
Living room, bedroom, bathroom.

Our spare bedroom that i have set up as the ‘library’. FI literally never sets foot in there and it’s just my favourite space in our house. Can’t wait to build our house next year and i will havea real library with floor to ceiling shelves!

@skippydarling: My favorite go to spot is our movie room. DH and I love movies and escape to this room often. I usually wind up falling asleep b/c the chairs are so comfy!

@skippydarling: FH and I are both musicians and there’s a room in our house that is dedicated just for that. I think it is supposed to be a den or something, but we turned it into a music room. I teach my students there, and it’s big enough to fit a piano so FH also uses it to practice piano.
It’s definitely my favourite room in the whole house. Second to it is probably the bedroom, because I just like to snuggle up in the bed after a long day.

@weddingbound: i love your movie room. it makes me want to come over and watch a movie. do you have a popcorn popper too?
currently, i like my bedroom, the kitchen and my spot by the pool. when we finish our new house, i have a feeling these rooms will still be my favourite but even better. the bedroom will have full view of the water with wrap around balcony and the kitchen will have a 14ft island for lots of cooking and entertaining. i will have to wait for my pool but in the meantime, there is a very large pool just steps away.

Our bedroom, because the front room is the living/kitchen and my SO is usually blasting music, the bathroom is tiny, and the yard is open to the street- not my idea of privacy.

@weddingbound: This is amazing!!! I am so jealous!
For me, I guess I would say my bedroom. We painted it grey and I aboslutely love the color, I find it calming. It`s filled with pictures from our Paris honeymoon and I love being in it!

@skippydarling: I have a THING about bathrooms. My bathroom isn’t even nice and it’s still where I hide when things are worst. Short of that though, my new sofa in the living room, with my headphones on.
