I never thought I'd like this fragrance, but when I tried it on I was still sniffing my arm hours later. I usually wear this one but it has a very springy-summery scent and (yikes) reminds me on an ex-boyfriend. I totally know what you mean when you say the fragrance can be like a timestamp. I find myself changing perfumes after one bottle is gone just because of that. The only one I have ever stuck with long term is Babydoll.
Ooh, fun topic! I am a total perfume freak. I would love to be one of those girls with one 'signature scent' but I always fall in love with a new fragrance. I totally agree that once whiff of a scent can bring you back to a specific moment in an instant so I have been trying to find the perfect one for my wedding day. I definitely want something classic rather than trendy, so you have a good liklihood of it always being available. My fiance's favorite perfume I wear is Clean but it's not formal enough for a wedding I think. I know I am going to have to let him narrow it down from my final choices because he is VERY picky about perfume. Anyone wear Estee Lauder Sensous? I am loving that right now and feel like that could be a good wedding day fragrance, soft, warm, feminine, not too overpowering. I'm excited to hear what other girls are wearing!
Ya know what my mom bought me which was perfect for picking a wedding scent? Sephora sells a pack for $50 where you get sample vials of their 10 most popular perfumes as well as a certificate to get a full size bottle of whichever you liked. After trying them all, I picked Stella by Stella McCartney, though Marc Jacob's Daisy was a close second.
I'll be wearing Mark Jacob's Daisy, although I've saving the bottle so my first memory of wearing it will be on my wedding day.
I love the perfume I received for Christmas, Lacoste pour femme... I'm not sure if it's what I want for the wedding day- it is close though: light, airy, feminine, pretty. All the best thins really!
I just fell in love with "The One" by Dolce & Gabbana yesterday! I will be buying it soon, then definitely using it for my wedding day scent. It's a beautiful, sweet, light scent. :)
I agree about the perfume being a sort of "time stamp" on the wedding day. They say the best way to jog a memory is through scent. I think it depends where your getting married. If your going to be at a beach, you might wnat something a little lighter...
Whatever you decide smells right on you, use it the day of your wedding and while on your honeymoon, but he trick is to NEVER use it again! That way, the smell will take you back to only THAT time in your life. Maybe pull it out for an anniversary or special occasion with your future husband to remember that time in your life :)
I love Abercrombie & Fitch No. 8. It's funny because it's the only reason I even go into that store! I'll be wearing that!
My Hunny always says that his favorite perfume of mine is the one I wore when we met because it makes him think of that day and the begining of our relationship. So I'll be wearing that - Lacoste, pour femme.
I use Ralph Lauren Romance as my everyday perfume. I know that I want to use a signature scent for our wedding (and then anniversaries after that) but I have yet to look into it. I think my FI is planning on getting a new cologne for the day as well! :D
I went in thinking I was going to get D&G "The One", but ended up going very classic and getting Vera Wang. I never would have thought thats what I would end up wearing, but I put it on and knew that was it. I wore it for the wedding and every night on our honeymoon... and haven't worn it since. I'll break it out for special occasions, though!
Tocca- Cleopatra. You can buy it at Sephora and Anthropologie. It is described as "lush greens mingle with grapefruit, cassis, peach nectar and golden amber"
Though I would also consider wearing something from cbihateperfume.com...
Unique way of remembering the wedding day...
Hermes Un Jardin sur le Nil is "my" scent. It's light and has scents of green mango, citrus. I wear it religiously and have received many compliments from others. My wedding day will not be an exception. I guess I've had good things happen to me over the years while wearing this scent so I don't want to interrupt the trend.
Wow...this is fun!
I am by nature a Chanel girl usually. My sis' sig fragrance is Coco. I love Coco, Allure, and Chance. I even keep a teeny tiny bottle of Allure with me!
I usually flip perfume once a year or twice a year at most (winter/fall and spring/summer). When I smelled L'eau D'Issey though, I fell in looooove! Other top contenders for scent of The Day were:
Sheer Veil, Miss Dior, and LaCoste. I went with Issey b/c it is not usual. Sorta hard to find and I briefly had it on last night..T loved it! He said "wow..you smell so good!"
To this day, I've always considered perfume a time/date stamp. My grandmother reminds me of Youth Dew by Estee Lauder. Or Chanel No. 5. My mom was never into perfume that much though. Again, my sisters' sig scent is Coco.
As far as guys go, I had to unfortunately toss out a few of my all time guy favorites because (uggggh) they smell like my xh (I've been single now 5 years although NOW and since over a year and a half ago I haven't really been single). Of the ones I loved and had to never purchase again due to the lovely time/date stamp are: Aqua di Gio, and Ralph Lauren Romance. I haven't yet smelled Issey for men, but I plan on that next! My wonderful guy loves Polo Black. He's a classic kind of guy and I DEFINITELY think of him whenever I smell that.. I may also see how the Lacoste for men smells to.
It would be wonderful if we could somehow have scent partners for the Big Day! Thus I will go and find Issey for men and sniff away! He may get another gift for Valentine's Day..hint hint!
What does your guy wear?
I absolutely adore a perfume oil called Kai- beautiful, youthful, and light!
I recently got two free full size bottles of Chanel perfume (for participating in a market research survey) So I will likely use one of the two. I got a bottle of Chanel No 5 (they revamped the scent and it is a lot lighter than it used to be) and I also got a bottle of CoCo Mademoiselle (I think this is going to be my wedding scent. It's light and lively... perfect for a summer day)
One less wedding related expense for me since I usually don't wear perfume :)
Fun post! I normally wear D&G Light Blue and was going to wear it as my something blue but then my MOH bought me Vera Wang Princess to wear. In the end, I wore Marc Jacob Daisy because my mom bought that for me for my shower. Everytime I wear it now, it reminds me of our special day! :)

This weekend, I went searching. I wanted to get a new scent because of the facts we're departing on our engagimoon the first weekend in march, and also because I wish to wear the same signature scent on the big day!
Originally, I thought I wanted to choose "Sheer Veil" by Vera Wang, but instead I found L'eau D'Issey by Issey Miyake (love it!).
How many of you have thought of this? To me, a scent can become like a time/date stamp and I have many fond memories of this perfume or that one.
What are you going to wear on your day scent-wise?
