I chose winter (well, TECHNICALLY it's late fall, b/c of the whole winter solstice thing but it's still winter to me) because:

    1) It is my favorite - crisp air, wonderful scents, cozy blankets & cocoa, holidays, etc

    2) I get hot & sweat easily and did not want my makeup melting off before the ceremony - That was probably the main reason lol

I chose fall/Halloween. It's my absolute favorite time of the year. I love the fall foliage. I love that it's not sweltering hot. I love that it's Halloween. lol

We live in So. Cal - so it was important to us to not pick blazing hot months (July/Aug/Sept) or cold months (Dec/Jan/Feb) - which left the rest!  We ideally wanted May/June, but our venue was booked.  We could have done March, but the timing would have stressed us out - so we decided for a longer engagement (aka: more time to save money!) and settled on October!

I chose winter because we got engaged on July 28th, and this gave me the longest time to plan, but still get married in 09!

    I chose spring because:

    1) Summers in Houston can be dreadful, especially for people that aren't used to it

    2) I have never been a big fan of winter. I hate being cold.

    3) Hurricane season was too much of a worry for me. We got engaged about 2 months after Houston's most recent hurricane. My parents didn't have power for about 2 weeks (because all of the power lines were wrapped up in the trees). I also read too many blogs about rescheduled weddings to want to deal with that.

We originally chose fall because a) it was about 16 months out from when he proposed) and b) we thought we were going to get married back east and we wanted the colorful trees! It's a beautiful time of year. When our east coast wedding venue search went badly, we chose Colorado (as its driving distance from our house in New Mexico). Fall stayed in the mix because the leaves are golden that time of year in the Rockies. Lucky for us, our venue's prices drop October 1st for their low-season, so we were able to book the first weekend in October (for the best chance of good weather in their low-season) at half the price!

We chose early fall for several reasons -

    • not too hot or too cold (the weather is usually ideal here around late Sept)
    • no chance of bad weather making travel difficult for our OOT guests (as there might be if we waited until later fall or winter)
    • there should be at least a little bit of pretty foliage by then... but not a ton of leaves on the ground (the prettiest part of fall IMO)

prices were the least expensive within the best part of the season in jamaica for all of the guest rooms.  We would have done it any time of the year though, doesn't matter to us!  Just worked out that way and was a good price for guests.  It also coincided with an engagement that was about a year and some change, which to me is a good length.

I chose late summer because I wanted Fall but one of my besties (and a BM) got engaged first and chose the EXACT weekend I wanted. So since I had no interest in winter or waiting until the following spring, I bumped it up two months to late summer so that our weddings wouldn't be right on top of one another since we have a lot of guest overlap. I never told her she took my date.

I chose winter because every wedding I've ever gone to has been in the spring and summer, and we wanted something different (although looking at this post that doesn't seem to be the case!) We really wanted a super formal, evening affair when it was dark outside, and winter seemed like the perfect time to do it! Also, winter is my absolute favorite time of year!

We chose spring because of the weather and how gorgeous it is here that time of year.  Our other option was fall, but both of our birthdays are in that season and we wanted to spread things out a bit.

Fall is our favorite season, and in our opinion, October has the BEST weather in Texas. October is not too hot & not too cold, usually just right. And since we wanted to get married outside, October won!

We chose summer because we wanted to ensure, as best we can, nice weather! It rains here, a lot, during the fall, spring and winter and usually some in the summer as well but July was statistically the dryest and sunniest month and so we settled on July 24th as it will be our three year anniversary of our first date so it will be easy to remember!

I'm not kidding, The Guy actually uttered these words mere minutes after his proposal, "So, I was thinking we could get married in the fall, because I figure I won't get too hot wearing a suit that time of year."

Yes, that is why we're having a fall wedding.

We chose fall because we both love the fall (crisp New England air, beautiful foliage). We considered the summer months too, but DH did not want to get married in the summer because he hates being hot and sweaty : )

Spring!  I've always loved spring, because that's when all my family's birthdays happen.  It's just a pretty time of year with the trees coming back to life, flowers blooming, and the warm sun shining!

We chose summer because of weather, but mostly b/c I get the entire month of August off from school. It just made sense to have our wedding then, so we'd have time for out honeymoon etc.

Mr Frenchie said he always wanted to get married in the Spring and I LOVE the spring, so if we didn't have my school in the way we probably would have been married then :)

Fall choose us and even more specifically Halloween choose us. We got engaged in November of 2008 and we didn't want a long engagement, although I think I would have liked a Spring wedding. When we looked at venues last Thanksgiving Halloween was the only Fall date left at our favorite venue.

we are getting married 9/18/10.. just the best month to be in MICHIGAN!

our summers are so hot and humid or thunderstorming we didn't want a summer wedding.  our springs are very short... as our winters are very long... so we chose september... it's usually still warm (70s) and we also wanted the color of the leaves changing in our pictures :)

We're technically getting married in winter (spring doesn't start until the end of March) but but the weather could go either way, sunny or cold. I'm wearing a bolero to be safe. We chose March because there was nothing else happening then!

@okqueenbee and @otb: me, too!  We got married Feb 09 and I wanted to get married in the calendar year 2009.  Actually, last December he said, "What if we get engaged in 09 and married in 2010?" and I was like, "No way, 2009 all the way!"  He was agreeable to that, luckily!

Also, I hate to sweat, so I was psyched to hopefully not be a sweaty mess with frizzy hair.  And in December you don't have to compete for vendors. They are super excited to get your business in the winter!

Ditto to Mermaid's answer - oh & it was cheaper for us to get married a holiday weekend.

We orig. wanted 10.10.10 - cuz it's cool, 5 days before FI's b-day & I love Fall - but our church gave away the date.

Spring - We knew we didn't want an outdoor ceremony, so climate wasn't all that important, and it was so much cheaper to do it in the early part of the year than summer or fall.  Spring also meant we'd have an engagament of reasonable length.

If I'd had my pick, we would be getting married in the fall but because of school and other time constriants we were limited to either summer or Christmas break - so I chose late summer!

I wanted to get married in the fall because it's my FAVORITE season, Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday and I love the weather. I didn't want to be hot on my wedding day and I wanted to go somewhere cold for the honeymoon. I live in Texas, where it's 100+ degrees for a lot of the summer.

We talked about this fall, but before we got engaged, 5 of my fiance's cousins/sister got engaged and planned their weddings for this october and november. And last year my work started a big event that involves 12 hour days every day for the first 2 weeks of November. So we made our date in January(I didn't want any Christmas decor for the wedding. :-)) It is working out perfectly! It's the off season for weddings and I love our honeymoon location-- France and Italy-- in the winter!

We got engaged in March 09 so we had a choice of 6-8 month engagement or 18 months. We chose September 2010 for several reasons:

    1. This year my parents have been in the middle of a HUGE move and it would have been bad timing.

    2. Our best friends already set their date for mid October 2010, so we decided to get married 7 weeks before them.

3.September is a beatiful month in NE Ohio. Spring and later fall can be real iffy with the weather here and summer is HOT.

We chose Fall because (1) we had a DW in Austin, Texas, and November seemed to have a good chance for good weather, (2) DH's dad works overseas, and was certain he could be back in the states at that time, and (3) we got married on a Sunday and took all of our guests to a University of Texas football game the day before (one of the benefits of a small wedding, plus it really helped to get DH excited about things).  It also worked out in terms of the timing with our engagement (which was 9 months long).

We picked the fall b/c FI has been in too many summer weddings where he is sweating buckets. Plus the fall gave us just the right amount of time to plan without feeling stressed. (eventhough it's probably going to happen anyway.) hehe

I wanted fall because it can be so pretty in Minnesota, but that wouldn't have worked with my school schedule. Or it would, but I'd be frazzled. We had to go with the end of August because that was the only time our schedules would coordinate with the church. I hope I won't be sweating through everything, but you never can tell with Minnesota. I mean, it's November and it's 50 degrees. I'm just going to keep my fingers crossed.

Rosie- It's interesting that prices were less for you in the fall. Right now fall has become extremely popular where I live, so I don't think there are discounts in the fall.
