Honestly, I think all DOCs are different in what they offer to do. They all might do the same general thing but be different in the little things they do. My DOC is still starting out (has had her own coordinating business for about a year), charges based on need and I got a friend discount. I am paying a little under $500.
She basically offers to jump in 6 - 4 weeks before the wedding, meet with all your vendors, review your vendor contracts to make sure you get what you want/need, is there the day-of to set up and shut down everything, will organize your rehearsal and rehearsal dinner, will assist with your bachelorette party & bridal shower and is there for support from you from the time you sign your contract. There's much more that she'll do, but that's what's just coming off the top of my head.
That is so awesome! We had quotes for that same exact list of things at over $2500! Great job :-)
$750 is a great deal! make sure she does as much as the other coordinators...
Mine is $1875 and she is meeting with our vendors, making a super intense timeline for the day, coming to the rehersal, etc etc. And I LOVE her! OMG my DoC is like, my most favorite person on the wedding planet.
Great news! We found a coordinator for $375! She's doing the timeline, coordinating vendors, set-up, etc and staying through the couple hours of the reception. She's also doing our rehearsal and providing advice on day-of "stuff" in general. She's awesome and experienced to boot! She does this on the side of working for a resort doing weddings. Very excited about this.
Glad you found someone less expensive! Just be sure to specify exactly what you want her to do. For us, we really need someone to boss people around (so we look like the good guy's) and just peace of mind that if anything major starts to crumble, they will fix it before we notice. We are paying $1800, but getting 3 coordinators for day-of and starting 2 months out will start to organize everything. But we are still being super specific about things we NEED our DOC to take care of so there is no confusion. I've heard horror stories about MIA DOC's and it's like - that's all you were supposed to do is coordinate the wedding and you just sat around and watched like a guest.
I personally don't know, but I was watching Rich Bride/ Poor Bride and on each show the wedding coordinator coast $2,000.
Yeah - most quotes came in around $1500 for DOC, but we just kept looking and found a coordinator who just moved here and does it on the side. She does this for a living for a resort, so we're happy with her qualifications. Good idea on being VERY specific on what she'll do. She's already provided great specifics as far as time she'll allot to the rehearsal and day of, but is more vague on DOC tasks. We'll make sure we really specify this. We're needing a "boss" too :-)

We are having a pretty much DIY wedding. We're lucky enough to have lots of family and friends willing to help which is great. But with our reception location, there is a ton of coordinating that needs to be done to make things run smooth. We found a "day of " coordinator who has also offered to help with our rehearsal and she's charging $750. This is a huge discount from what we've found with other coordinators in the area. Is this a good price though still? That's like $75/hr when all's said and done. What should she be doing for that price exactly?
