You need to book any other vendors you are hiring - like a DJ first.
A very close second is finalize your guest list and get your invitations and monogram designed. (There are people on etsy that will design the monogram for super cheap - like $5).
Make a list of everything you can think of that needs to be done between now and the wedding (and when it needs to be done). Look at your calendar and assign due dates for everything. You can get everything done in your timeframe, you just need to be organized about what needs to be done and when so you don't freak out.
Good luck!
I think you should first finalize your budget and your guestlist. Those two things will determine everything else.
After that I would focus on your big vendors---cake, music (ceremony and reception), florist, officiant, paper products etc...
I also agree with the pp that you you should try to list out everything and create a timeline for everything.
Good luck!
Ok, does anyone have a good link for a checklist for wedding planning? The knot will only show me what I need to get done in the next 5 months, I need everything I already should have done too! Thanks!
Make a list and plan to knock one thing off everyday!
Do you need to book an officiant, a DJ, transportation, the grooms tux/suit?
It is worse when you are unorganized - if you know what needs to be done and you prioritize the order you can systematically get everything done - don't freak out because that will make you more inefficient! It feels so good to cross each thing off your list!
I think you're doing fine. The ceremony and reception venue are the biggies, the dress is another biggie, and you've got all that done. The vendors you want to work with, so they don't get booked, you probably want to start looking into and contacting them, including people for the invitations. The guest list is going to be a pain so it probably needs to be gotten out of the way pretty soon too. Don't worry you'll be fine.
ps. I stopped checking the knot because it stressed me out so bad, maybe some people love it but to me it sounded like a ridiculous schedule to me
@Bratsy2010 - the knot should show you everything you haven't done (checked off the list). If it isn't showing you, then click "view all" which shows you all tasks.
Wedding Wire also has a good checklist.
Hey Bratsy
- I have a PDF one that you can print off and I don't know where I got it - but I can email it to you if you PM with your email address!

-make table number luminaries
-make flower balls for the decor of where we are actually standing for the ceremony
-finalize guest list
-design imvites
-design monogram
-get jr bridesmaid dresses for my daughters
-buy shoes, jewelry, veil
-order napkins, favors, etc.
OK now i feel overwhelmed......
