I wouldn’t.  Save the $99.  You’re not engaged and there’s no reason to think you will be by the time it expires.

I probably wouldn’t unless you know for sure you’ll be engaged before then.  You just never know, I was expecting to be engaged last summer, but here I am still waiting! 🙂

Do they HAVE to be engagment photos? and would he take photo’s with you just because? Its a great deal, and if he’s the type to have fun “just because” photos then sure!

I wouldn’t do it. I would find it embarrassing later on to explain to him that I’d bought an engagement photo package before there was a hint of a proposal. You can both figure it out later if and when you get engaged and set a timeline.

Does it have the little bit that if you dont use it you can apply the money towards a different groupon?

Can you just use them as “couple photos” rather than “engagement photos”? If you can, and then that would not bother me, it could be a really fun thing to do together!

I’d say not to do it. Online, every week at some off the wall website there are great promotions and things for almost free, I’m almost certain another opportunity will arise when the time is right. I’m the same way though, but have been working on not letting it take me over. Instead I stop and remember… When the time is right everything will fall into place. Maybe there will be an even better promotion when the time is right, maybe you win a free e-shoot, or maybe an even better photographer has an even better deal when the time comes, either way I’d say wait it out

I don’t know if you should buy it or not, but Groupon does have a policy that if you don’t use a Groupon before it expries you’re entitled to a full refund, you just need to call them and they’ll refund you no questions asked. 🙂

EDIT: Nevermind. I just went on Groupon’s website and noticed they have changed their policy and no longer have such a liberal return policy.  Its a shame because they have refunded me in the past 🙁

I’m doing this! It was a groupon for an hour long session with private photographer, and I was CONVINCED we would be engaged before it expired (I bought it September 2011, and it expires one year from them). However, we’re still not engaged and I really, really want spring pictures.

So I talked to my SO about it, and didn’t frame it as engagement photos but rather “couples pictures” as PP stated. He’s completely into the idea, and even helped me pick the setting (we’re having the shoot in a botanical garden). They will make great photos for our house, even if they aren’t about engagement.

So if you think that’s an option for you, I’d say do it. It will be a really fun experience either way. Although, if you don’t mind waiting I’m sure it will come up again. I’m groupon / livingsocial junkie, and I’ve seen several packages like this over the past few months.
