Umm...
how about you pass the mailbox around and ask your guests to write something about you that they would like to share with everyone.
or funny stories...
Pen holder! Haha, I'm sorry I'm stumped. Can you take a picture of it? I bet it's super cute!
have people write "marriage advice" on little cards and stick them in it? Maybe after they sign the guest book? or have the blank cards with instructions to place them into the box at each seat? It would be fun reading the messages.
Or could it hold your programs?
My parents went to a wedding where all the guests were given postcards to write marriage advice. Each table was assigned a month, and someone collected all the postcards and is going to mail them to the couple during the assigned month, for an entire year after their wedding. My parents got some fall month, so they wrote about coming together with family for the holidays, etc. You could do something along those lines?
I really like Grey56's idea! Plus, you can look forward to a whole year's worth of well wishes and advice... :o)
My other answer is, "when in doubt, put flowers in it!" That's what we did with the basket of a bicycle that I'd purchased to use at our reception, but never figured out exactly what to do with it. Flowers are always sweet, especially in unconventional containers.
I would ditch the card box you have right now and use the mailbox.
I can't believe I didn't think of that Heathaah! Why not use it for programs? Or. . . I could put it out at the ceremony and have fans in it, since it's going to be hot.
where did you get the mailbox? I LOVE IT!!! I have been in search of one similar!
cardbox? or gift it to a friend / sell it on eBay / advertise it on craigslist?

I bought a mailbox, in fact it's the same one in Mrs. Pinneapple's post ( http://www.weddingbee.com/2008/10/10/card-box/ ). Then painted it white and added scrapbooking rub ons. Seriously, it's pretty cute (if I do say so myself) and one of my best DIY projects.
I was originally going to use it as a guestbook/wish cards. I later was going to scan them into our computer and add them to our wedding album which would be purchased from My Publisher.
Fast forward to last night when I was on a wedding rampage. I ordered a Shutterfly book, which I will now be using as our guestbook.
So, now what should I use my beautiful mailbox for? I already have a cardbox, so that doesn't work (and I'm not sure it will fit all of the cards).
