I need some help. I'm struggling with what to get my MOH for hosting my bridal shower this month.  I wanted to just get her something she has been wanting- but she buys a lot of things for herself so I'm not sure.

I was looking for something on ETSY but there is so much to choose from.

I don't want to spend more than $20 or $30.

    Any ideas?

@Helstrong: Hello KU friend! :) I got mine a gift card to a local salon so she could get either a mani or pedi, it was something she wouldn't do for herself but enjoyed. :)

    Have fun!

@KansasPrincess11:Hello :)  Watching the hawks right now- while I stay nice and warm inside and not outside in the 3 foot snow drifts.  A gift card to a salon is a good idea. Totally didn't even think about that. I might just have to go do that!  (Once this snow melt

I'm so jealous! We don't have ESPNU and so we don't have the game to watch, ESPN online is where I'm at. Grrr. I'm thinking I should upgrade our cable package for Feb/March........

We got sent home from work at noon today, I'll be surprised if we get off work tomorrow though. Where I work we have a contract with SRS that if they're open, we're open. It's a good thing, but my hub is a student and I'd just love to have a day at home with him and the puppies!

@KansasPrincess11: yes- you definitely need to upgrade for the big basketball season! We sent people home at noon today also. I am lucky because I work a mile from where I live- but it's my apartment parking lot that is the issue.  They haven't plowed yet, and once they do, everything they plow will be right behind our cars.  The snow is already up to my back bumper. I think I'll be working from home tomorrow! I hope you get to stay home tomorrow too!

I wasn't sure if I should comment on this thread...I'm a Mizzou grad, and a diehard fan ;-).

Something that I received once was a Scentsy. It's this thing that uses candle wax bricks and melts them with a lightbulb. It's similar to a candle warmer.

They have other styles, too! I'm also a fan of gift cards, or nice things that I wouldn't necessarily get myself (like a comfortable robe, a nice set of lotions, etc.).

      Good luck!

@Helstrong: I hope I get off work as well, doubt it'll happen though. *sigh. :P

@keepsmiling19: HA! No worries, as long as you don't say anything too offensive ;) My hub went to KSU for a while, we have a fun rivalry :) That's a cute idea though, might be a good option for my boss's gift too...I'll have to keep that one in mind! :)

@KansasPrincess11: I'll do my best :-). One of my coworkers went to KU, so we have a good time teasing each other! During football season, I tell her that I won't be too mean to her, because I know basketball is right around the corner :-). My cousin is a KSU grad...he gets no mercy, because they can't do anything right ;-).

I got a Mizzou one of those and I love it! They have a bunch of really good scents. I'm thinking about getting some of the smaller ones as bridal party gifts. We'll see how the budget pans out.

@keepsmiling19:Hahahaha, SO true. I love watching the KSU games though, Frank Martin is HI-LARRRIOUS. It's funny b/c I get a lot of flack from his family (HUGE ksu fans) because I'm a KU fan and KU fans are 'so mean' (btw I've NEVER said anything rude to any of them) and so we've tried just avoiding the subject around his family. I think the super-fans for all schools get a bad reputation (whether it's KU, Mizzou, KSU, Ohio...blah blah). Anywho haha...that's my soap box :)

@keepsmiling19: Awwww thanks for the suggestion. I forgot about those scentsy things. That is a very very good idea!  And thanks for posting the picture even though you're a mizz-who fan ;)

@KansasPrincess11: You're right about Frank Martin- he is hilarious to watch.  The other night during the game the cameras were focused on Pullen and he looked upset so my friend said "go ahead Wildcats, pout" then they panned to Martin and he stuck his lip out. It was hilarious.

@Helstrong: HAHA! One of my friends made his pouty face picture her profile picture. She said "Yeah, I'd be upset too if my team didn't show up to the game" hahahaha

Wait... your only going to spend $20-$30 on your MOH after she is hosting YOUR bridal shower?? I think you may need to up your budget. No offense but your MOH is throwing an entire party for you with her money...

@dfurst: woah woah woah. I've never heard of a bride giving her MOH a gift for hosting the bridal shower. While the idea is very nice and generous of OP, it's certainly not mandatory. I'm assuming OP is also going to her MOH gift to give at the rehearsal dinner, that is normally the thank you for throwing the showers and participating.

So OP, I think the salon idea was nice. Or a bottle of wine?

@Helstrong: I had to throw you a bone! It's only fair...your old football coach threw us one in 2009, essentially giving us the win in KC :-). Seriously though, I do love the Scentsy products!

@KansasPrincess11: I completely agree! We have some family friends who are diehard Nebraska fans. It gets a little rough when we would meet up in football :-). As long as it's all in good fun, I see no harm!

Good luck shopping for presents! I'm excited to see what you decide!

How about a bottle of wine and glasses for her and her SO (if applicable!)

I love the Mani/Pedi idea! or maybe a girls day together, lunch and a movie gift card or something!?

I say go with personal! Or flowers, chocolates and a SPEECH of GRATITUDE! =)

I bought my sister a fancy apron from etsy.  It's not something she would ever have bought herself, but it's super cute and she loved it.

And, as an Oklahoma fan I just have to ask...what is the basketball thing you speak of?

@dfurst: I am just spending a little bit on her right now, for the shower, because I have spent over $150 on her wedding presents.  Unfortunately I am on a budget and I don't have a lot more to spend right now.  I don't think she will be upset with me. She has begged me not to get her anything actually.

@JrzyGurl: A bottle of wine is also a good idea, because I had thought of also getting a personalized wine glass.  Can you help me out with wine options?  I don't drink wine so I know NOTHING!

@keepsmiling19: You crack me up! I definitely need to see who around here sells Scentsy.

@CupCakeMeg:  I like the wine idea too. But I need help because I don't drink wine!

    @nmsoonerbride:  OOO that is cute.

So now I need to decide between:

    1. Scentsy KU thing.

    2. Wine/Wine glass

    3. Spa giftcards

HMMMM  I have two weeks to decide.

If you want to go for the wine option, ask other friends what kind she drinks, if you're not sure a Pinot Grigio or Reisling are pretty universal. If you go to a liquor store there are always fun kinds. In my group of girlfriends we've exchanged different fun kinds. For the Twilight lover--Vampire brand wine, the typical housewife got the Mad Housewife brand, you see the theme :) I'm errily obsessed with wine so if you choose this option please just write back and ask! :)

@KansasPrincess11: Ok!  Thanks :)  I think I am going to ask her other two best friends what kind would be good to get her and see what they say.  Might run that by you when I find out!

My aunts hosted a shower for me and I had personal notecards made for them.  They really liked them...so they said.  I think they came out nice and I had them made for 15.00

In our area it is customary to always give the hostesses a thank you gift too.

@Helstrong: you don't need to defend yourself to @dfurst! every single person is on a different budget, and he/she has no right to tell you how much to spend on someone for a gift. i am right there with you, and wouldn't be able to spend a lot on a hostess gift.
