He is my half brother but we are close considering we are 10 years apart and live in different states. I want him to be part of my wedding but he and my fiance are not that close (they like each other a lot) but have only met thrice. We both have our wedding parties picked out. I want my little brother to have a special part in the wedding but I don’t want him to be an usher. I thought maybe I should ask him to give a speech at the dinner. My fiance’s Bridesmaid or Best Man won’t give one (he is shy) so maybe that could be for my brother. What do you all think?

A speech would be nice, or maybe you could have him do a reading at the service?

I am having my brother standing up on my side for the wedding. You could have your brother totally make a speech on behalf of your family’s side etc. Or a nice reading at the ceremony. My good friend is sharing a reading at our ceremony, even though ours is non-denominational and just a civil service.

Our ceremony is going to be very quick and quite simple. We don’t really want readings or anything and we are not doing candles or sand. So I guess a speech would be good. But, I also want my dad to give a speech. Is that too much? My dad and my brother giving a speech? Ack….I don’t know what to do?!
