Purple. That is a tough one, though, because I prefer the officiant in neutral (like black or khaki or gray) so the focus stays on the couple moreso. But the mother of the bride should be festive! But if she were in gold standing up there with you during the ceremony, I'd probably be slightly distracted like "ooo shiny!" So I go with purple. It matches your colors, it's pretty, and it would be the least distracting of those options. Gray would be a good runner up, but it is less MoB to me. Dark blue would also work, but I don't think it would match your wedding colors as well. Silver, gold, and ivory/white would not be options to me.
Interesting! I was actually initially leaning neutral as well--b/c i was thinking more officiant style than MoB style. The gold was definitely my favorite and I was thinking to stay away from purple.
My favorite (until I read your post!) was this one:

I also really liked this one, but I thought that having her in ivory would not look the greatest in pictures.

So is that a "no" for both of these dresses?
No to the gold one. It's definitely "ooo shiny" to me haha. But that might just be me.
I think the second one could work. It might be a good balance between festive and neutral, if you're ok with her being next to you in ivory! I think the jacket helps make it seem a little business like/neutral, but the edging keeps it festive. That one could be a possibility.
I think purple would look really loveley. I'm remembering something from Mrs. Cherry Pie's posts?
I know black isn't a typical color for the MoB, but what about this one? I think the style is "fun" even though the color is more formal:

We are having a summer wedding in which my mother will also be officiating, so I am trying to figure out what color dress she should wear. Its kind of like a mother of the bride/officiating look & I need to think about how she will look in pictures. My colors for the reception are purple & fuchsia (basically), so the wedding may have purple flowers--or I may have no flowers, or I may have white flowers. Still undecided.
I definitely want her in a solid, but she is looking for things now & I am trying to figure out what color to have her wear. What other color should she be looking for? OR trying to avoid?? Bridesmaids would be in black cocktail dresses.
Gold?
Silver/gray?
Dark Blue?
Ivory/white?
Purple?
