My fiance and I are having an engagement party next weekend. There will be about 50 guests in attendance (I have a big family).
Should we organize any type of games? We are really just at a loss for what to do. Are we supposed to organize anything at all or just let the evening flow? Are there any engagement party traditions we could incorporate? We are really excited for the party, just not sure about what the night should consist of.
It might be worth mentioning that all of my fiance’s family except his parents and siblings live on the other side of the country, so the party will mostly be our friends/neighbors and my extended family.

Have good food, some drinks, and maybe some music. Mostly people are going to want to talk with you and catch up with each other. It wouldn’t hurt if you wanted to have a few games around. It depends on what your crowd likes. Maybe DDR or something on the tv (or karaoke!) or maybe just some cards or something. Mostly the foods and drink though!

@rel318: I was at an engagement party where the couple did that shoe game you normally see at weddings. You know the one where you each hold one of his shoes/one of her shoes and then you sit back to back while someone asks questions like who takes longer to get ready, etc etc and you hold up whoevers shoe you think fits the bill. It was actually really fun at an engagement party though because we were all closer friends than the 200 people at their wedding so it was fun for us all to play along!! Congrats on your engagement and enjoy your party!

I vote lots of food and some drinks! And adequate sitting room.
