So FI and I both have names that start with T, and middle names that both start with J. When I take his last name, our monograms will be the same (TJE). We want to bring a monogram into the wedding, but we’re not sure what we should do.
I know it’s usually the first letters of both names then the first letter of the last name, but would that look dumb when 2 of the letters are the same? Would you think it’s weird if we used TJE?
Also, for a cake topper, we wanted to do a letter. If we just did a T to symbolise both of our names, would that be weird or should we do an E for our last name or what? I know it’s a silly detail but it’s one that’s been bugging me for awhile!

Monograms have the first inital of your last name in the middle with the first initials of your first names on either side. In your case that would be T E T.
I would stick with the last name initial for the cake topper.

Both mine and Fi’s name start with “M” and even before marriage both of our last names start with “R”. Our cake top will say “mRm” 🙂 I think it will look fine with 2 of the same letters! Otherwise you can find ones on etsy that are just the letter of your new last name, or ones that say “Mr. & Mrs. Soandso”.
I do think it would be weird to use the TJE monogram since not everyone will know both of your middle names!

@julies1949: I know that’s how it’s usually done, but to me, at least with our initials, I personally think it looks funny! It’s actually FI who wants to do monogrammed stuff more than me, but to me T E T just looks odd! I don’t know if it just looks too much like TIT or tête (the french word for head) or what. I just don’t like the way T E T looks!
