Our 5th anniversary is this weekend and Darling Husband and I can’t think of anything special to do. Please help with ideas. We were thinking of going to our favorite bed and breakfast but it’s all booked up 🙁 We don’t really want to try a different place because last time we went somewhere else we had a bad experience. So far we’re just thinking of going to a local botanical garden and then a beer bar. That just doesn’t seem special enough, though. Please help us think of something fun to celebrate our 5 years.

Do any companies in your area offer dinner & sunset cruises (like on a boat)? That could be something fun and different to do.

- Wedding: November 2013 - St. Augustine Beach, FL
@KimmyKimKim: We love booking a room at The Agustin Inn in St. Augustine. The prices are very reasonable and most rooms have an in-room jacuzzi. If you tell them it’s your anniversary they usually greet you with a bottle of sparkling wine. You do have to book two nights if you stay Friday or Saturday. We usually do Thursday and Friday nights or Saturday and Sunday nights. And the breakfast is delicious! They made red velvet waffles with cream cheese drizzle when we stayed for Christmas last year and I hear they do pumpkin ones during the fall.

@KimmyKimKim: Our 1 year anniversary is this weekend and Darling Husband is working 🙁 He’s providing security at a conference out of town at a nice resort so I’m joining him. The conference will be over Sunday morning. I asked him if we could book a room and stay Sunday night so we can spend our anniversary together instead of driving home and he said yes but now because of the government shut down all time off has been cancelled. Boo! I think we’ll just got to a nice restaurant by our house (the one we went to the night we got engaged to celebrate.) It’s a special place to us. Also we still sometimes (when we remember) celebrate the day we met and our dating anniversary by going out to eat at the bar/restaurant we met at. It’s always fun to go back there to celebrate us!
Even if you end up staying in town is there a special place you and Darling Husband enjoy? I think what’s most important is that you and Darling Husband spend the day together no matter where you are.

@ThePrincessBride10612: Oh, no! I’m sorry your plans got messed up, that sucks. It sounds like you’ll still have a great time, though. You’re so right that spending time together is more important than what we do. Sometimes I get so caught up in planning fun things that it becomes a source of stress instead of fun! We do have a few places that have sentimental value to us, but we go to those places all the time! For example, the restraunt where we first talked about marriage is one of our favorite places and we go there about twice a month. There is a bar where our friendship turned into something more and we were there last week. When we find places we like we go there all the time.
Happy early anniversary to you!
