I’m sooooo excited!! My husband and I our expanding our family this weekend by bringing home two kittens! One is a grey female that we are naming Luna. The other is a brown/grey/white male tabby that we have yet to name, and we are not coming to an easy agreement over what to name him! I’m including a poll here so that you guys can help us, but here are some of the options:
Pippin – MY favorite. Definitely after the Lord of the Rings character. I think it’s super cute, and also particularly appropriate because Pippin is curious, explorative, mischevious, and loyal – all good and appropriate traits for a kitten!
Darling Husband likes more sciency/nerdy names. Some of his favorites so far include:
Tiberius (James Tiberius Kirk – from Star Trek)
Schroedinger – as in, Schroedinger’s cat
Calvin (Calvin & Hobbes)
If you can’t tell, my hubby is a scientist (electrical engineer) and comes up with names that fit that category. I want names that are cute and not a mouthful. What do you think?

I actually really like Bueller – haha.
My vote is for Pippen 🙂

I think Pippin is adorable, but I really love Tolkien 🙂

I’m a huge Tolkien nerd so of course I voted for Pippen :). Plus Pip is easy to say also! I’m also a Trekkie so of course I love Tiberius. Schroedinger is great (for what it pertains to I love it :)) but I feel like there’s no fantastic way to shorten it.

Our previous sheltie was named Pippin. It’s a good name 🙂

I’m between Schroedinger and Calvin! But Pippin’s a close 3rd in my mind. Pippin and Calvin are probaly easier to say though.

Sherman. I like Sherman. 🙂

I’m a Lord of the Rings junkie, so I vote for Pippin!!

When we got my kitten a few years ago, we considered Tiberius. When ended up with Jean Paul Sartre (I was really into learning about existentialism at the time -_- don’t judge me -_-) But my mom pushed for Tiberius as in James T Kirk! My parents are nerds lol

@Koi Fishie: I’m curious – what do you call Jean Paul Sartre? One of the big issues I have with a lot of hubby’s names is that I’m sure I’ll shorten them (for example, he suggested Dr. Kenneth Noisewater – I would call him Doc).

11 comments and no one has asked for pics yet? Travesty! Everyone knows you can’t blindly name pet! OP, are you able to post a pic of the new kitties? Please??

Pippin is an amazing kitten name, I love it! Just in case you show your Darling Husband this poll and he thinks it’s skewed by us knowing that you like that name the best, I want to make it clear that I truly love that name, and have possibly now been convinced that all kittens should be named Pippin.

My vote is for Pippin as well.

@Miss Mauverick: Wonderful point! I have a picture of the whole litter and I’m fairly certain of which ones our kittens are. Unfortunately, I was too distracted to take pictures when we went to choose our furbabies 🙂
I’m pretty sure our boy kitty is the tiger-striped one toward the right side of the wagon looking straight at the camera. He’s a total cuddler (he was purring as soon as we were holding him when we went to pick our kittens), and he was totally chill in the crate with all of his siblings.
In case you’re curious, I think Luna is the grey one all the way at the left climbing on her siblings 🙂 She’s tiny, and has blue eyes.
