Ladies…I am so nervous to go try on dresses that I have been putting it off (our wedding is more than a year away, but we’ve been engaged for a year). I am a street size 8 now (5’6, 150 pounds), having just recently lost 30 pounds, but I am really nervous that I won’t fit into any of the sample dresses they have in the stores and it’ll just be a horrible, awkward experience. Can someone reassure me that the dresses won’t all be for girls who are size 0-4?

I think they tend to run in 6, 8, 10 or if they only have one size maybe even larger so that they can accomodate more brides. But at a street size 8 you honestly should not have anything to worry about! That’s a completely average size!
ETA: Oh and Congratulations on the weight loss!!

I am a size 12 and fit into almost all the dresses I wanted to try on. If they didnt fit the consultant just clipped it in the back. Unfortunately, there were about 2-3 that were a size 2 or so that there was no way in hell I was getting on.
Don’t worry ~ you’ll be fine! 🙂

You should have nothing to worry about! I am a street size 6, and most dresses were huge on me!

Im a size 20/22 depending on the day…They had my size…You will be fine.

You should be fine, many I tried on were sizes 10, 14, 16. I am size 0-2 and had a horrible experience because most of the dresses were huge on me and I felt it was impossible to tell how they would look on me. David’s actually had the best size selection with several sizes in each style.

@lawyeretta: at least David’s bridal has dresses up to size 14-16

I am a street size 12, and almost all the dresses at the place I went to was either a 10 or 12. The smallest I saw there was a size 8 which was too small for me, but I think it was only a few dresses that small. You have nothing to worry about!

@lawyeretta: We are about the same size though I am a 34DD so I carry most of my weight in my chest so I don’t know if we would fit a dress the same way (since I dont know your dimmensions obviously haha) but I was fine!

I am really nervous about it too, OP. I’ve been putting it off for a very long time and I will continue to. Ugh.

Street size 6-8, and I only had trouble with 2 dresses (I tried on at least 50). You should be fine!

I think it depends where you shop–DB has ALL the sizes. But the boutique I went to had samples from a bridal size 6 to a bridal size 24!

i’m a size 22/24 (which means 24 or 26 in bridal), and i found places to try dresses on. just call ahead. ask if they have dresses in sizes bigger than 0-4.
i’m sure you’ll be fine! most places carry dresses in size 8 or 12 as well as the small sizes.

I’m a size 12 (but more like 14 in the bust), and had no problems. ANything that would zip all the way up over my chest, they just clipped to my bra. From the front I was gorgeous, but the back sometimes looked crazy.
