Just curious - what size bed do people have? We currently have my full bed (just moved in together 8 months ago) but want to upgrade. He wants a king, I want a queen. I'm afraid the king would feel too big, especially when he's gone on trips! Any thoughts?

The queen we have is perfectly sized. We used to share a twin bed when he'd sleep over at my place before we moved in!

Kings are also longer, so if your guy is tall, that could be part of his consideration as well and worth considering for his comfort.

If a king would fit in our room, I would totally upgrade to it. But right now we have a full. I think we're going to a queen soon...thank goodness. Even though they seem much bigger, a king size really isn't that huge. My mom has one and it doesn't even seem that big.

Ugh, we have a full right now...so small, but we don't want to spring for a larger one until Mr. Bruschetta graduates and starts working.  We're getting used to the tight quarters, though!

We have a california king, but my Fi is also a pretty big guy (6'3" and 225).  When he is gone, I just let the dogs sleep in the bed with me, and it doesn't seem so big What size bed do you have? : wedding bed Icon Biggrin.  Before that, we slept together in a queen and that was fine,  but it was a little cramped.  And my Fi's feet hung off the bed.

We have a King bed and it was the best investment we ever made! I love it! BUT, I am the type of person who doesn't like to touch my husband while sleeping! It's perfect if you like your own space. I say, if you have the room, go for a King!

We've shared full and queen size beds when we stay with our parents, but those are no where near enough room. We have a King. FI is 6'3" and a sprawling sleeper, Like diagonal and all over my side of the bed, he's a snuggler too.

I'm a pretty stationary sleeper but occasionally I wake up sprawled all over his side when I wake up so the room is nice if you're a roller. FI says I tease him in the morning when he's getting ready for work by rolling over to his side. Maybe I unconciously know he's leaving so I roll over looking for him, or maybe it's just that his side is nice and warm and he's stolen half the covers during the night so I'm seeking warmth.

I like the idea of a cal king as they are longer, only by maybe 8 inches, but I think he'd still try to sprawl over to my side. Cal Kings are also a little narower than Eastern Kings (what a lot of people call a regular king.) So I think we need one of these: http://www.hastens.com/en/THE-COLLECTION/Continental-beds/Excelsior-Round/ Or these would be neat: http://www.frogview.com/show1.php?file=4186 Sweet: anyone have a trampolene they want to repurpose?

We have a queen, which we used to love...perfect for us and the pooch and cuddling.

And then we got another dog!  Now, with 2 people and 2 dogs, we definitely need to upsize.  We'll be moving after our wedding next year, and the first thing we're getting is a new bed!

We have a double, but I'm planning on moving up to a Queen sized bed as soon as we can afford it.  (That's where any cash wedding presents are going.)  My quilt is already queen-sized.  We registered for a set of queen sized sheets to help minimize the other expenses.

If we had my way , we'd have a cal king. But we want to make sure ti will fit in our bedroom when we buy a house so we're making due with our queen size bed. I am a total bed/cover hog!

When we started dating (almost six years ago!), I had a twin & he had a futon.  I have no idea how we fit back then, since the queen bed we have now seems so small!  He really wants to upgrade to a king & we have the room, so we'll probably get a king soon.  Then there'll be room for our Lab too!

I think I might have made the poll in a way that is flawed- the title of this thread is "what size be do you have" but then in the poll I ask what size bed is ideal. The poll shows that Queen wins, but most people in the comments say King is ideal...so I am guessing maybe people mean they currently have a queen in the poll?

We have a queen but apparently a small cat requires half the bed so we are thinking of getting a king when we move possibly.  Especially if we end up getting another bed pig cat!

@Miss. Don't you hate that about cats?? They know just how to lay right smack in the middle of the bed to take up all the space! lol

We have a full and it works for us. Sometimes I feel like I need alittle more space, but we were in a twin for alittle while... While it worked ok since we like to touch each other when we sleep and neither of us are large people, there were a few times that I got an elbow to the face...haha Wasn't too hard luckily. We really don't have any room for something larger atm, not if we want to be able to open our dresser drawers or get into the closet without standing on the bed anyway! We both love our bed though. We've stayed in hotel beds together before and even though they're roomier, we are always so relieved and happy to be back in our own bed. I've never had that before until we got this bed either! Before, a bed was a bed to me. Hopefully it won't be a problem on our honeymoon!

California King baby. Never going back to a queen. Even when my man is on-call working... the dog slinks over to the bed to fill the void. :o)

But on top of that... each of us get a 'zip code' and it's rather nice. Almost like having your own bed.

Get a King if you can afford it... and if you have space for it... it's divine!

king is key.  i was a queen snob for a long time.  "oh" i said, "a king is too big and tacky.  i'll never get a king"  well let me tell you from experience - a king bed is the best investment ever.  and (as i wrote in a previous post) with a memory foam mattress it is like heaven.  you can snuggle if you choose - or seriously have your own condo of uninterrupted sleep.

We have a queen and love it. But if our cat had his way we would have a cal king. We like to be touching one another when we sleep, ie: knees or whatever touching...our cat is like velcro and likes to be attached to both of us when he sleeps so he squishes in between us and falls asleep. For such a small little person (10lbs) he takes up a lot of room...lol.

We have a full from our single days, but were waiting until we bought our house to upgrade.  Now that we've got the house we plan on getting a queen before we move in.  We like being snuggled up next to each other, so we don't want a king.

I thought a Queen size was just right until we got a Cali King.  Now I think a Queen size is too tight!  (Although we both slept on a full bed when visiting my family, and he invited the dog up on the bed...talk about a tight fit!  I wanted my CaliKing!)

totally agree MightySapphire!  you can STILL cuddle in a king or cal king - nobody makes you sleep on opposite sides of the bed.  the difference is if you have pets or kids, or just need some space - you have the OPTION with a bed bigger than a queen.  my FI and i sleep on 1/3 of the bed and our dog takes up the other 2/3rds!

I do think it's funny when my mother in law comments on our choice of a king over a queen.  "Well, I guess we're just different because we like to cuddle when we sleep", she says.  Other people have said the same thing.  My husband and I cuddle in bed when we first go to sleep, but then we get to sprawl on our own sides when we're ready to sleep.  It's not like a king size bed means you must have a passport to get to the other side to cuddle...

We have queen, but had a king when we lived in Miami and it was grreeeaatttt. If we had the room and the money we'd have a king now rather than a queen. If either of you moves a lot in your sleep you need a lot of room.

Thankfully we have a king. SO is 6'5 and 260 pounds and a complete bed hog/snuggler. I, on the other hand, usually wake up in the same spot I fell asleep in and hate to be touched while I sleep. Even though we have a king I usually end up smashed up against the wall. I wish we could upgrade to a cali king but SO works out of state and we're currently living it up in our fifth wheel. I'm just happy we have a king. I don't know what I would do if had to sleep in something smaller. As it as I still get a hand or arm to the face nightly. I guess he senses when I get into bed because he goes from his side to all up in my space lol

We have 2 full size beds. One is from my bedroom suit that I currently have. The other bed is my sisters old bed frame. My parents got her a new frame. So we just have to buy a mattress set for that bed. We figure it's plenty of room for right now. The master bedroom in our first home isn't really big enough for a bigger bed. But we're going to upgrade eventually.

I told FI that I defianetly want a bigger bed when we decide to have children. Reason being: I remember late nights of crawling into bed with my parents when I was little. LOL

We don't live together; I still live at home with my parents. He lives in his own trailor (yes, a very small mobile home; but not our home) We don't stay the night together either. We're both traditionalist, and so are our families (My 'rents, and his aunt & uncle) My father & his uncle would SO not allow it. LOL

We have a queen because it's what he had when we moved in together.  However, having slept in a king at a hotel, when we're done with this bed we will be upgrading.  But we don't think there is such a thing as "too big" when it comes to beds. :P

IF I had my way we'd have a Cal King -- that's what my parents have and it is what I always expected when we moved into a bigger place.  But, now that we have moved we are still sleeping in our queen -- and it looks so tiny in our new house.  I tried bringing it up to my husband, but he responded that I come from a family of giants and he doesn't so queen is just fine.  My hubby is 5'10" and I am 5'7" and he says we are too small for a king.  My mom is 5'9" and my dad is 6'4" -- so my husband thinks that they are the "right size" for a Cal King.  Anyway... the queen just doesn't look right in the new bedroom... sigh...

We have a queen right now but will get a King when we're married. I love the queen right now, but with a big guy (6'5", 200lbs) and a big dog who refuses to sleep on the floor vying for room, we need a king. Somehow I always get the least room!

We used to have a full and slept on that together for 2+ years.  We recently upgraded to a King and I LOVE IT!  I'm a really light sleeper, so with my FI further away, I've been sleeping a lot better!  When he's gone, I sleep in the middle!

we have a queen and I love it.  We usually get Kings in hotels and while it is really great in some ways, I do find that by the morning he feels really far away as we end up moving apart during the night.  I prefer the Queen.  Also, living in Manhattan a King isn't even an option for us!  The King bed owners here sure are militant about it being the best though :)

Actually regular King size beds are the same length as Queens, they are just wider (I believe). If your guy needs the extra length you should go for the California King (4" longer than a Queen) but not as wide as a regular King.

We have a California King because the FI is 6'3. With the two of us and a mutt sleeping in one bed a California King was a must.Another thing to consider is the possiblity of a future kid. :P Queen might be the right size for two adults but what about 2 adults + a baby? :)

Something to consider in regards to California Kings is that they are usually extra deep and sheets are harder to find and more expensive.
