My halo is made from heirloom diamonds so I didn’t really have a choice in the sizing of the diamonds. I also didn’t have so many options of settings, and chose the halo because it worked. My center stone is 1 carat and my halo is comprised of stones that are each .10. That is large for a halo, but not having the super small diamonds actually gives it more of a vintage, less trendy look. The way my ring is set the halo does not take away from the center since you can clearly see the center from the halo, which is actually what I prefer. I don’t post pictures on Weddingbee anymore, so I’m sorry I can’t attach a photo. Just go with what you really feel you love, you definitely don’t want to regret it after the fact because you didn’t follow your heart.

My halo has .02 pointers (two pointers) in it and I love the look but it’s not a “delicate” halo so if I were you I’d go with 1 pointers or 1.5’s.  I wanted that “crusted” lookk. Here’re some pics of mine with the 2 pointers:

Maybe a .05 pointer even?  This halo is pretty delicate:

I have a pendant with 2 pointers but I wouldn’t call it delicate per se.

This thread discusses putting them around a big sapphire:

I think in the case of a halo it matters how you set the stones, pp wanted a “crusted” look and what your going for seems more like channel or bead set.  Those are two very different looks.

Heres a halo that looks like what you are going for:

Not sure on the size this is MrsPom’s ring (from this thread: http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/how-much-would-it-cost-to-add-a-halo) but she doesn’t seem active anymore.

.011 in my band and halo. I much prefer the look of smaller diamonds like .01s in a halo. There are two larger versions of my ring and the bigger diamonds look chunky and out of place (then again, the whole setting looks awkward since it’s supposed to be a delicate, detailed one, and they just magnified everything for the bigger ones).

I’m not sure, but the halo diamonds are small, which is what I wanted.

My ring is a 1.5 caret center stone and it has 18 small stones with a total of .42 carets in the halo (my math makes them .023 each…).

Sorry its not a better pic, i have a new camera a can’t figure out how to take clear images of my ring. It is soo much shinier and sparklier than the pic.
