I wanted some opinions on what slip I should wear under my dress. It’s a mermaid/fit and flare style. The slip from the bridal store I purchased it from really doesn’t do much to add shape to the dress. I went to DB and tried the fit and flare which looked good then the attendant recommended I get the full slip. It really did bring out the bottom but now that I’m home, I think it’s making it look very bulky at the bottom because the dress isn’t meant to go out that far. My dress is VERY similar to this and would like to get this shape, so if any of you had something similar, which slip did you use?

summery08: I purchased the David’s Bridal fit and flare slip when I got my dress, but after trying it on again at home, I realized that the crinoline was scratching the tops of my feet and it made the dress feel and look a little bulkier, so I returned it.
I’m going to ask my seamstress if she can just add extra crinoline to the bottom of the dress, but if not, I’ve heard good things about this slip from lightinthebox.com and is inexpensive – http://www.lightinthebox.com/Nylon—Tulle-Floor-length-Wedding-Petticoats–0061-3-_p155989.html

Yep, you need a one-hoop petticoat.

I had tulle sewn directly into my dress – I didn’t want the added layers of a petticoat, just the “poof” of the tulle. Perhaps that would work for you, too? Talk to the person doing your alterations.
