I've been told I should end the night with an upbeat, fun dance song... buuuuuut (there's always a but)... here's my story!

My FI HATES to dance, and I loooooove it. I've been teasing him for years that the only time I will make him dance with me is at our wedding - and after 5 years I have held true to this promise! I know in the end, he won't really dance with me at the wedding (except for our first dance) and we're both okay with it. I would love for the last song to be "save the last dance for me" (the old school Drifters verison, not the Michael Buble version). Aside from the fact that I have always loved this song, it just seems so fitting to end the night with FI and I dancing together to this song.

What do you think? Is anyone else being picky about what your last song will be?

Here's some lyrics in case you haven't heard this wonderful song... listen to it on youtube if you haven't!!

"Oh, I know that the music's fine like sparkling wine go and have your fun

Laugh and sing but while we're apart don't give your heart to anyone

But don't forget who's taking you home and in whose arms you're gonna be

So darlin', save the last dance for me

Baby don't you know I love you so

Can't you feel it when we touch

I will never never let you go, I love you oh so much

You can dance go and carry on till the night is gone and it's time to go

If he asks if you're all alone can he take you home you must tell him no

'Cause don't forget who's taking you home and in whose arm's you're gonna be

So darlin save the last dance for me."

I like your choice! I absolutely know what ours will be... Don't Stop Believin' by Journey. We totally sing it at the top of our lungs together every time it plays.

We are doing Swing Life Away by Rise Against. It's such a great song, it makes me cry every time I hear it now! Almost every lyric has some meaning to R & my relationship and it's just so perfect!!

I'm doing what two of my friends did.  I'm ending the night with my fiance and I dancing to our first dance song.  My friends did this where they were dancing together and everyone left at the wedding formed a circle around them on the dance floor and at the very end all "moved in" towards the couple.  The couple cried because the whole day was over, but it was a special way to end the night, surrounded by family and friends!

We're doing "Don't Stop Me Now" by Queen.  I wanted to dance to "I Believe in a Thing Called Love" by the Darkness, but my (non-dancing) fiance nixed it for Queen.  They're one of my favorite bands, so I was OK with it!

We ended it by playing the only country song of the night lol I love country and our college always plays "should've been a cowboy" by toby keith after every game while people are leaving. So we played that as our last song to carry on a little tradition from our college. And i guess it makes more sense to say that our college mascot is the cowboys.

I think a medium tempo song or fast pace song is a good idea to end on! I didn't even get to dance to our last song (which is what i planned on doing) because we were saying our final goodbyes before the send-off.

I think "Hit the Road, Jack" by Ray Charles would be funny and appropriate for the guests.

@fishwoman: I have never heard of doing that before... That's just a wonderful idea and it sounds like such a sweet moment to have at the end of the night!

@HoneyBear: Uhm yes. Also LOVE THIS SONG. haha

@Allyser: We're not really doing a send-off so I hope we get to dance at the last song!

@CorgiTales: How can he not like that song?! It's a classic... and a great way to end the night I think!

@eseds: Yay a song buddy! Isn't it such a great song?? I get tears in my eyes just thinking about it! (Although that is pretty common occurence these days...)

We moved outside our barn for the last dance. We did "Today was a Fairytale"/Taylor Swift. We had fireworks set off throughout the song and danced for the first minute or so then just stopped dancing and joined everyone else in watching the fireworks.

We used "I'll be there" by the Jackson 5.

It was AWESOME. I was so exhausted, and I was so ready to go home, but blissfully happy. It was the perfect end to our perfect night!

We are ending with "I Got You Babe" by Sonny and Cher. I think its a fun song that i wanted to use for the first dance but went with something else. Gonna try to get everyone to sing along to it.

We are going to use "God Gave Me You" by Dave Barnes.  I really wanted to find a way to add it in as a special song but the first dance song was already taken by "Faithfully" by Journey.  I was very excited to realize that I hadn't even thought of picking a song for the last dance :)

We've talked about using the Israel Kamakawiwo'ole version of Under the Rainbow - and then probably a nice seque into Don't Stop Believing.  I mean...how can you rest some top of your lung singing at the end of hte night :)

I'm thinking about "Last Dance" by Donna Summer.  It's a fun, upbeat song & we're old enough to remember disco.

We ended our reception with "I've Had the Time of my Life" from Dirty Dancing!  It fit the days events so perfectly and a few of us shed tears when the celebration ended.

    That's a great choice!

We didn't dance at our wedding (other than the hora). If we did, it would be NY, NY. It's big tradition for my family and our good friends, you always know when a party is ending b/c that song comes on.

We had the most random last song EVER....first the back story. I didnt ever think of choosing a last song during the planning process. I figured most guests would be gone by that point anyways, so what difference did it make? Fast forward to the end of my wedding and my DJ comes running over to me in a panic and says "you never told me what your last song was!!" "Huh?" I said. I told him to pick whatever seemed to fit!

10 mins later, the DJ annonces that this will be the last song of the night...and proceeds to play "Big Poppa" by notorious B.I.G. HAHA.

We danced to "Dancing Cheek to Cheek" by Ella Fitzgerald.  It's a fun song, and a little less of an obvious choice than "At Last"
