I am non-traditional about the song too. I personally hate the 'here comes the bride, big fat and wide' song.
My older sister chose something classical for her wedding, and I am walking down the aisle to the Theme song from the movie Ever After. Music by George Fenton and actually the track called Danielle's Wings.
Just look for something that makes you feel good, and makes you feel like a bride. It doesn't matter if it is from a movie or from your favorite band, or if you ask a tallented friend to arrange music for you. Walks down the aisle aren't very long, you only need a short segment of a song you like.
I am walking to At Last (the Etta James song). We have a jazz combo doing our music, and they have put together a great arrangement with a very distinctive intro. Beforehand (for everybody else to get to their places) they will be playing When I Fall In Love.
I am walking down the aisle to Here Comes the Bride, but it is going to be played on a steel drum, which was my way of making it unique (beach wedding).
For something different, I would try "Gabriel's Oboe" from the movie "The Mission." It is beautiful and short enough for you to make it down the aisle no problem.
I walked down to "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" - it's a song (and movie) that I love and that has special meaning to me so it was perfect. My bridal party walked down to "Can't Help Falling in Love" which also sounded great!
I think I am going to go with something non-traditional but I want it to have an "entrance" type sound to it.
