I am soooo excited because I just decided what song I shall be walking down the aisle to. I have choosen: The music of "Blackbird" by the Beatles via violin and cello.
What are you walking to?
I'm thinking the instrumental version of "You Are My Sunshine". Not the kiddie version, of course!
I will be walking down the aisle to something more traditional, Pachelbel's "Canon in D".
BUT....for our Recessional we will be exiting the church to my favorite band, Coldplay, and their instrumental piano version of their song "Yellow". :) :)
Okay, so I don't really have an aisle to be walking down, but we will have "entrance" music as people are settling for our short, intimate ceremony. It's a shortened, edited version of Ingrid Michaelson's "Little Romance." It seemed so appropriate.
"I'm in the mood for love/I'm in the mood to dance/I'm in the mood for a little romance. I'm all dressed up tonight/I waited all night long/when will they finally play our song? I'm in the mood for love."
I know it's not traditional to actually have music with lyrics, but nothing about our wedding has been traditional so far and ingrid michaelson's music has a special place in our relationship, several good memories relating to a few of her songs.
I love the beatles! Good choice :)
I walked down to At Last by Etta James
I'll be walking down the aisle to roy orbison's Pretty woman.... it was my FI's idea, and I LOVE it!!
I am walking down to an acoustic version of Such Great Heights (think Iron and Wine).
I'm thinking of having my BMs walk to Blackbird!
@mizrunzou: That is one of my FAVORITE songs --- that'll be beautiful.
My favorite movie is the sound of music. Ever since I was a kid, I have LOVED that wedding scene. I'm thinking about having the organ music (sans the Maria song) played when I come down the aisle... I can get ahold of the sheet music.. just have to decide!
I'm walking down to Can't Help Falling In Love by Elvis! Not traditional, but it's one of the things that was most important to me throughout wedding planning.
Simple Gifts. We're having a string duo at the ceremony and they do a beautiful job with it. It was actually FI's suggestion, but I love the melody and it goes with our small wedding and theme.
@MichelleMyBell - your icon is adorable!
I'm walking down the aisle to "Once Upon A Time ... Storybook Love" from The Princess Bride. I've known I wanted to walk down the aisle to that piece for yeeeeeeeears now. I think it has perfect breaks in the music for my 'maids and a good break in the music for my entrance. I just hope we can pull it off!!
We're walking in to instrumentals of two traditional Jewish folksongs: Erev Ba and Erev Shel Shoshanim, and our recessional is Siman Tov (and Mazel Tov).
My FI has an attachment to Pachelbel's Canon that stems from his high school band days, so the parents and my grandfather are entering to that. While he and his guys are in their way in the song will switch to a hip hop version of the song that opens "See You When You Get There" by Coolio. My girls are walking in to an instrumental of "Everything" by Michael Buble and since the FI gets to mix things up with his music, I'm walking in to a pepped up version of "Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring," called "Joy" by Apollo 100. Our recessional is "Fishing in the Dark" by Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. It will be nothing if not original :)
The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra's cover of "The Universal" by Blur. I was so happy when I found out an instrumental version exists!
Totally unoriginal-At Last...I just love the beginning of the song and think it'll be perfect to walk too. I'm having my man of honor walk to It's a Wonderful World. The processional is the one we are most excited about though-U2 Beautiful Day. We will have the song start right at our first kiss and get louder after the officiant pronounces us..yay!
I'm walking down to Coldplay's Fix You!! I love that song :]
Omg I wish I knew for sure! We have changed our minds about 590304980723 times lol How did you all finally decide on something?! Granted we have about 8 months to make a final decision hehe
I'm walking down to an instrumental version of Stings fields of gold, played on the harp..... I love it!
My daughter is walking in to "Liz On Top of the World" from Pride and Prejudice.
@teeleaf I love Fields of Gold. That'll be beautiful played by a harpist!!!
@mamadee, that will be gorgeous! Liz on Top of the World is on my short list of possibilities. :) We don't know what music we will have yet, but if we leave it up to my sons it would be "The Imperial March." ;)
I'm walking out to Des'ree Kissing You. I love it! NEvermind that it was the love theme for Romeo and Juliet.... Haha! Does that mean we're doomed:) I love her voice!
ooooooo Blackbird instrumental!!! what a good idea! i was going to do Somewhere Over the Rainbow (the hawaiian version, if you've heard it...) but my FI doesn't want anything associated with a movie or with lyrics... blackbird is a good idea! we're dancing our first dance to Something by the Beatles, and the rest of the wedding party will be walking to Across the Universe, so this would fit our unintended theme lol
I'm walking in to Somewhere over the Rainbow by Iz, its my FI favorite song and its going to be a surprise. I am so excited to see his face when he hears the song
Chariot- by Page France.
Two of our college friends are doing the music at our wedding, they are amazing musicians, I am so excited.
An instrumental and shortened version of Intervention by The Arcade Fire
I'm walking down the aisle to a shortened version of "Gabriels Oboe" played by an unoffical string quartet haha.
I love Storybook Love and love the movie! Thanks for the suggestion :-)
I'm going with the traditional Here Comes the Bride. I think it has such a dramatic effect.
When I Fall In Love by Nat King Cole. Just thinking of the song gives me the chills.
I am walking down to "Everything I Do, I Do it for You" By Vitamin String Quartet
