Hey bees! Just considering alternatives to the Bridal March. Ireally liked Mrs. Tartlet's Portuguese Love Theme from Love Actually. What are you/did you walk into?
I walked in to our friend singing So Are You to Me by Eastmountainsouth =)
I heard this on a bridal site and tracked it down. I am in love with this song:

Ray Montagne and Rachael Yamagata <3
O Mio Babbino Caro from Gianni Schicci by Puccini. played by either a string quartet or a violin and harp duo.
I'm planning to walk in to All You Need is Love by the Beatles, but I need to work out the logistics.
I walked down the aisle to Cat Power's "Sea of Love." It was really beautiful. :)
Will walk in to In your eyes by Peter Gabriel. Just decided the other day - so excited!!
Haven't officially decided, but have considered/am considering:
Dream- Priscilla Ahn
Lovely Day- Maroon 5 (Bill Withers cover)
To Make You Feel My Love- Adele
Wonderful Tonight- Vitamin String Quartet
Black Hole Sun- Vitamin String Quartet
Great Gig in the Sky- Vitamin String Quartet
Sparks- Coldplay
Fade Into You- Mazzy Star
The Rain Song- Led Zeppelin
I am walking to the instrumental/piano version of Come What May from the movie Moulin Rouge. I know the movie itself is not a great pick for a wedding since it's mostly about prostitution, greed, and life as a lowly writer... but it holds a special place in my heart. It was the movie FI and I watched on our first date... definitely a strange pick for a first date movie, but since then, we always laugh about it.
For that reason, I knew I had to use the songs from the movie in the wedding. So, I'm walking to Come What May, our first dance is the movie's rendition of Your Song, and our entrance is Rhythm of the Night.
I'm walking in to the instrumental version of "Your Song" by Elton John. It's from Moulin Rouge, but it's only played quietly in the background of a montage scene, so it's not recognizable as "that song from that cheesy movie years and years ago" haha.
Here it is on Youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FbsjYlaVdk0 :) I get teary hearing it and the wedding is still almost a year away!
@Miss Lemmons: HAHA two Moulin Rouge answers in a row, awesome! Our first dance song is most likely going to be the original version of Your Song -- I love the movie version too but FI hates that movie, and we both love Elton John and the original version is the first song we ever slow danced to, so it works.
I'm walking to the classic guitar version of Storybook Love which is the theme from Princess Bride.
We had a DW at the beach so we used Israel Kamakawiwo'ole's version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World."
@brideatbeach: I LOVE "Sea of Love." We used Kamakawiwo'ole's version as our recessional.
I recently decided that I'm obsessed with the idea of walking in to Falling in Love at a Coffee Shop by Landon Pigg. It's cute, and it just has that flowy beat that I think I want...love it!!
I walked to Hymne by Vangelis. I still get tears when I listen to it.
I'm thinking about walking into Yiruma's River Flows In You. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rhN7SG-H-3k
I think it might be affiliated with Twilight, so I don't want everyone to be all like "omg, they must really like Twilight...."
I'm walking to Jim Brickman, Beautiful. It's perfect and i get goosebumps listening to the lyrics. :)
I'm walking into a piano arrangment of the hymn "Come thou fount" by David Neuve, it is one of my favorites to begin with and it is a beautiful arrangment of it.
I will be walking down the aisle to Debussy's Clair de Lune (if you're not familiar, it's recognizable as the song at the very end of Ocean's 11, as the guys are all standing around the fountain). It's been our song from the very beginning, and I used to be self-conscious about it since it didn't have lyrics and wasn't a typical "our song" kind of piece. But every time it comes on, he drops what he's doing to kiss me and spend those few minutes just being together. So excited about it!
@Miss Lemmons: This might be my favorite song ever. What a gorgeous choice!
@SuperKate: We are doing Iz's version of that song, too. The wedding won't be on the beach, but I'm crazy about ukuleles, so it still fits : )
Procession : Pachel's Canon
Signing of the registar : Air by Bach
Catholic Cord and Veil Ceremony : instrumental of Amazing Grace
Leaving : Jupiter the Planets (the main part)
All with Piano and Flute.
I walked in to Ingrid Michaelson's "The Way I Am" and my bridal party entered to Jack Jonhson's "Better Together" and Jason Mraz's "Lucky." I had a hard time picking between the three but was happy with the way it turned out. :)
I walked to a song called "True Love" by Miranda Wong: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EzvhPcvnxcc. When I was planning my wedding I just happened to come across her you tube page and fell in love. I hired a pianist, and bought the sheet music off her website. Swoon, it still makes me tear up.
Feels Like Home by Chantal Kreviazuk
or
Everything by Lifehouse
I might have my girls walk to one and I'll pick the other.
@amnystik: Ok so I looked up the song So Are You To Me by EastMountainSouth last night, and I might be changing my mind now and going for that instead of Falling in Love at a Coffee Shop. It's BEAUTIFUL. Maybe My girls can walk to one and I'll walk to the other... :-)
"My Wish" by Rascall Flatts would be REALLY good to walk in to with. It's a wish from parents to children who are abt to get married and start a new life. The tune is catchy as well. Trust me, you'll love it!
@FutureMrsBPB: Ive never heard that song but it is very sweet! I might use that for the girls... ugh im so undecided!
Our friend is playing the bagpipes for our processional and recessional. I gave him some guidelines and he will choose two songs. At my entrance, he is going to switch to The Water is Wide.
Our choices were limited by the range of the highland pipes -- 9 notes!
If we had a string quartet, I planning would have incorporated the wedding march from Mozart's Marriage of Figaro because it's one of my favorite operas and it's less cliche than the Wagner or Mendohlssohn pieces.
This:
Love Love Love by Avalanche City
I love cute songs like this. It makes me well up with happiness everytime I hear it.
I'm toying with Van Morrison, which has special meaning to us. Part of me would love to use Tupelo Honey, but it's pretty slow.
We're friends with a rock musician who is playing the ceremony and cocktail hour with with rhythm guitarist, so I think we'll consult with them on what they're comfortable with.
@Kant: That's so funny... our first dance song is Your Song as well, but we picked the Moulin Rouge cheesy version cause that's what FI liked HAHA! Great minds think alike.
@cortneyc: Thank you. It's beautiful and I teared up the first time I heard the piano version... so of course that was my choice. I listen to it all the time so I can get used to hearing it and don't bawl my eyes out LOL
