Do y'all have a "song"? We'll be dancing to Isn't She Lovely by Stevie Wonder in honor of our daughter (it's our vow renewal) On the night we eloped, we danced to At Last by Etta James in the middle of the Bellagio. We will probably also dance to that as well.
First, decide on a slow song or a medium tempo song.
Then think about the kind of music you like, favorite songs, favorite bands. I bet you'll find one in no time. Good Luck.
"Hey Ya" by matt weddle. It's a remake of the Outkast version, slower, and acoustic. We didn't want anything too lovey dovey- because in public we're not a lovey dovey couple. (we're in the closet!)
I like when couples choose different or classic first dance songs. My cousin danced to "all my life" by K-C and Jo Jo when it was really popular... I think him and his wife both cringe now when someone brings that up. (not that there's anything wrong with that song brides who are choosing that as their song! :)
We haven't picked ours yet but a couple ideas for you are...
Nat King Cole-Unforgettable Etta James-At Last Edwin McCain-I'll Be Jason Mraz ft. Colbie Calliat-Lucky Ronan Keating-When You Say Nothing At All Shania Twain-Still The One Tim McGraw/Faith Hill-It's Your Love
Up until two weeks before the wedding, we couldn't agree on a song for our first dance, but when we heard Boyz II Men's "Just My Imagination" on the radio we both turned to each other and had an a-ha moment, it was the perfect song for us!
Oohh! I've been doing tons of research on this! During our ceremony, my two girlfriends are going to play guitar and sing Green Eyes by Coldplay. They are both musicians and perform locally! My guy and I both have green eyes and the lyrics are perfect!! We're still debating our song for the first dance, but we don't want to be too traditional and dance to all the same wedding songs everyone uses! I want to entertain my guests, not bore them with the same-o-same-o. (No offense anyone!!)
some more ideas
country:
These Are The Days - Sugarland
Take Me There- Rascal Flatts
Lost In This Moment - Big & Rich
Other style:
Groove Me - King Floyd (our favoriate so far! Great sexy couple song with a great beat to dance to!) Music sets the mood, so choose wisely!
Well, we are both really into Alternative Rock (I know, how romantic :) Early nineties mostly. We do appreciate the oldies-but-goodies as well, but this is where we begin to disagree. He likes Led Zeppelin... not much to work with there. I like "Let my love open the door" by Pete Townshend. So cute and fun! But he says NO WAY. He wants to do something a little more unique and not so run of the mill. Music means a lot to us both and I would be so sad to hear this song later in life and cringe (I do know a few people that danced to KC and Jojo). I was hoping to find something a little edgy but still romantic....
I just listened to "Hey Ya" by Matt Weddle. What an AMAZING voice!! I love Acoustic versions of almost any song. At first it was hard to not imagine the melody of the Outkast version but he sings with so much heart. 4 1/2 minutes might be stretching it for Mr. Wonderful though.
@maureen9004--Help out a tecnhologically-challenged bride here! Can you explain how you ripped and edited that? I think FI and I would like something a little more "offbeat" for our first dance song, and this would totally fit the bill!
I wanted to do something a little different from the usual so we narrowed it down to 2 songs: DMB "Steady as we go" and Michelle Featherstone "We are man and wife" both are great.
We had a hard time choosing, but the week before the wedding, we picked a version of "Let It Be Me" by Rosie Thomas. It's cool that it was an updated standard- we can hear other versions of it in public and think, "Aww, it's our song!"
We both love "Everything" by Michael Buble, but being that we both have two left feet, we are re-thinking.. it's just a bit too fast for us to know what to do for 3 minutes. I've always love "True Companion" but I'm afraid it's overdone...
We aren't huge country fans or anything, but Willie Nelson is one of our favorites. Unfortunately most of Willie's songs are really sad, so we picked "All of Me" which is sweet and upbeat, even if it is sort of a breakup song. I think we kinda viewed it in perspective of our many years of long-distance instead.
We danced to "For crying out Loud" by Meatloaf. It is DH favorite song. I thought it was just way too long, so halfway through the DJ invited all couples to come up and dance with us. It was really nice.
I am in need of suggestions. My wedding is in three weeks and we haven't picked a song to be our firat dance! Yikes!
Thank you in advance! :)
