We're thinking of asking a family friend who plays guitar to do our ceremony music. I have wanted Gustav Holst's Jupiter as my entrance song since I was 15, before I had ever considered any aspect of a wedding at all; I heard that song, and it has been my overall favorite ever since. I love this guy's version of In My Life for my ladies to walk to, but it would work just as well for the bride. I think the acoustic versions really change the feel. I am not sold on how Jupiter translates, but the full symphonic version is breathtaking.
Do you want words or just music?
I am having my wedding party enter to this song...it is so beautiful.

my shortlist was such great heights by Iron & Wine, the luckiest by Ben Folds, saving grace by Pete Murray, valium by Lisa Mitchell & bella by Angus & Julia Stone.
I decided on the Pete Murray song :)
I'm from Australia so you may not have heard of a couple of those artists, but good luck choosing a song! It's definitely the thing that I'm finding trickiest at the moment!
This is ours and I don't think it is overplayed. I don't know if it is your style though.
We are having a harpist and a flutist play.
Take a minute to browse through this older thread and you might get a few ideas. [I haven't looked, but I can guess there is a lot of Ave Maria & Canon D in there as well as Here Comes The Sun by The Beatles]
I'm about 89% certain we'll be using Bron-Y-Aur by Led Zeppelin (I've said this before elsewhere too, NOT the Stomp version!); it's acoustic & instrumental, non-lyrical, light, not too somber and I have never ever seen it done at a wedding before. works for me!
eta: here's another thread that might have some inspiration in it.
Perhaps ours is not unique, but we chose an instrumental version of the Beatle's "Here Comes the Sun." We were both born in 1969, the year the original was released, and were hoping to use our birth year as a sound track for our wedding.
@april30 ... I LOVE LOVE LOVE the music you suggested. Are you having a live violinist and pianoist or just playing a prerecorded version??
We haven't had any discussions about music, but I picture the wedding party walking out to The Imperial March (yes, THE Imperial March), me walking out to "So This is Love" from Cinderella (LOVE this version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ai0t0-diAZo ), and the recessional will be "Ode to a Butterfly" by Nickle Creek. Ecclectic, no? ;)
I would like something different than what is normally played. I really love the intro to Allison Krauss' version of "I Will". FI thinks it's too "twangy" and was kind of offended when I said I didn't want to use "Here Comes the Bride"...I may let him win this battle since he is pretty traditional when it comes to the ceremony!
We had a solo piano for my wedding and I walked down to "Edelwiess" from The Sound of Music. It was so pretty and one of my favorite songs!
I want to use Zac Brown Bands Violin Intro to Free and Free, instrumental only - it's proving to be a little hard to find the sheet music for it though....
I am considering walking down to either Book of Love by Peter Gabriel, Mama's song by Carrie Underwood, or (my top pick right now) Fresh Feeling by Eels. I definitely don't want something overdone and obvious :)
'Can You Feel the Love Tonight' from The Lion King. We're debating between the actual Elton John version, a string quartet version, or acoustic guitar.
We're having an outdoor wedding, somewhat low-key and relaxed so I'm using a song called "River Road" from the Elizabethtown soundtrack. It's somewhat bluegrass but with a soft, slow feel to it.
@Amaryllis: That's totally my favorite movement, but I had never even thought about it until you said it! Will you be walking down to the fast part or the slow part? Because the idea of the slower mid-section is making me irrationally happy. And then exit to the quicker part?? Ahhhh you're just giving me so much to think about! *end band geek moment*
i'm considering more acoustic versions of songs rather than songs with words. am considering this beautiful guitar piece called, "romantic guitar" by chopin. here's a link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3mhR-m9bEJA
it might be a bit slow though, but there's also this amazing instrumental at the beginning of this one song called "innocence" by airborne toxic event.. it speeds up midway so i think that's perfect for the the bride's entrance! here's a link:

it's a push for me. good luck deciding. just make sure it's something that you love!
I'll be walking down the aisle to Like a Star by Corinne Bailey Rae. My bridal party will come down to Forever by Ben Harper.
We willl be using Kenny Wayne Shepard's "Electric Lullaby" as my processional music and Stevie Ray Vaughn's "Pride and Joy" as the Recessional.
I've narrowed it down to either "Julia" by the Beatles or any song by Icelandic band Sigur Ros.
I've narrowed it down to either "Julia" by the Beatles or any song by Icelandic band Sigur Ros.
At first I wanted us (my fiance and I are walking together) to walk down the aisle to something from the Final Fantasy games. But now I'm torn between an instrumental version of Just A Kiss by Lady Antebellum and Good Life by OneRepublic. Both beautiful. And because they're instrumental they can be cut timewise to fit the length of the aisle.
I am walking down the isle to Feels Like Rain by Buddy Guy, it's such a beautiful song and he's one of my favourite blues artists
still undecided about this one, but leaning towards "when you say nothing at all" by alison krauss
My bridal party is walking down to Songbird by Kenny G and I will be walking down to Leona Lewis's the "first time I saw your face." http://youtu.be/3t4LpqKpFYI
We have a string quartet. Everyone walking before me (BM, GM and parents) are walking to "Tonight, Tonight" Smashing Pumpkins and I am walking to "What a Wonderful World" Louis Armstrong
@brenna1035: Love, love, love Book of Love! We considered it for our first dance.
I'm walking to a piano version of Marry Me by Train and my bridesmaids are walking to a piano version of Bless the Broken Road by Rascal flatts.
We are pretty set that everyone except me is walking into VSQ's version of 'Sweet Child O' Mine' because who doesn't love Guns N Roses at a wedding??
I am still debating my entrance song: 'Stand by Me' by Ben E. King or VSQ's version of 'Wonderwall' by Oasis.
I know this isn't traditional, but I'm walking to "Tighten Up" by the Black Keys. My wedding party is walking in to a live (yes, LIVE) rendition of "Moment 4 Life" (Nicki Minaj). Nothing about our wedding is quiet, though! :)
I am walking down to Hoppipolla by Sigur Ros. There's a beautiful piano version on Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xA42GC-grPo
I will be walking down to Tessla's "Love Song," or at least the instrumental part of it. ;) My girls are walking down to Staind's "Tangled up in you." My MOH's boyfriend is playing them on guitar for us.
I have decided on Vitamin String Quartet's version of Transatlanticism by Death Cab for Cutie.
I'm a cello player and I can't stand to walk down to Cannon in D.

I want a unique song to walk down the aisle to ... something that isn't over used at wedding but but something that is still beautiful & elegant song. Any suggestions?
