so so many, Love Shack, Macarena, YMCA, anything the Bee Gees ever sang, anything Soulja Boy ever "rapped", I've Had the Time of my Life. I actually took the Cupid Shuffle off my do not play list after another party. Its the least annoying line dance song and I had to give in on one.

The YMCA, Locomotion, aaand I can't think of any others right now :)  Although, the older crowd does love these songs and it gets them on the dance floor. So, I may let one slide...no pun intended :)

@Oneeleven: lol I think that is on my play list actually, it will probably be played out by my weddding date anyway

I also have songs on my do not play list that are really unlikely just in case my dj loses his mind or a family member requests it. Who let the dogs out, I'm too Sexy, Footloose, Copacabana

Oh my...Who Let the Dogs out. I mean, really, who could forget THAT gem.

Hell. I'm going to really have to do some more research for all those songs I'm not thinking of!

Hopefully this thread will continue :o)

Mostly anything 90s and onward. Hate it all. I actually like the Bee Gee but they are on my B-list. I have classic rock on my A-List but it is an outdoor party.

FI eliminated any song that tells people what to do. So, no cha cha slide, cupid shuffle, YMCA, etc.

@bRooklynRocks: the only way I was going to let the Cha Cha Slide, well for lack of abetter word, slide was if my niece (she's 11) requested it. Other than that, sorry. wah-wah :(

If there's a dance to the song, it's on the do not play list.  Anything by the Black Eyed Peas.  I think they are just awful.  Also, Cotton Eyed Joe.  The song makes me twitch.

I agree with a lot of you!  If it has a dance, I don't want to hear it.  I used to be a banquet server and I've seen one too many of all of those...Laughing

We haven't officially made our list yet but the one song I know will be on there is Save a horse ride a cowboy. We HATE that song.

I'm also going to tell my DJ to limit the hip/hop songs. I hate going to weddings when there is like over 10 booty bouncin' songs before one slow song or just basically anything else. Nothing wrong with some of those but the ratio needs to be better.

anything written in 1980!  the fi is a big fan of 80's music.  if our relationship goes south, it'll be largely due to our clashing music tastes.

The chicken dance is defenetly on our list. And anything that FMIL requests.

Last week at dinner she said she heard a song she wants played at the reception. She didn't remember the name of it, but it was talking about how getting married is a mistake and the couple will end up in divorce. I hate the woman.

The chicken dance is on our must play list-it's a family tradition (we're polish after all. :D)  We also love the line dances as well, my mom is even taking a class on refreshing her memory so those are in as well.  Cause I come from a family of dorks. :D

So far on the actual DNP, which is pretty diverse and all over the place:

Chris Brown, Rhianna, Michael Buble, Mariah Carey, Bee Gees, Most Abba songs, no Black Eye Pea songs other than that one, Jason Mraz, any country music (ESP Taylor Swift)

    Sweet Caroline by James Taylor

    Don't Stop Beleving-Journey

    Anything Bon Jovi

    Anything Glee

This makes me really nervous!  Do I really have to research every bad song ever to put on a Do Not Play list?  I'm hoping our DJ will understand our style, and that I can use a few blanket statements.

The one song I will definitely ban is Paradise by the Dashboard Light.  I HATE that song!  It's about buttering a girl up to get her to have sex with you and then hating being married and praying for death to come.  Does that sound like an appropriate wedding song to you?

Ok, so originally the Macarena would have been on my Do Not Play list had I made one, HOWEVER, the dj threw it on and within thirty seconds about thirty of us were up on the floor doing the Macarena!

To be honest, it was one of the highlights of the night and when I watched the video that somebody had taken of us I cracked up!

Oh, do I have a list

    1. Macarana
    2. Love Shack
    3. Chicken Dance
    4. Anything from Grease
    5. ChaCha Slide
    6. No Rap (Unless it is Eminem)
    7. Brick House
    8. Baby got back or anything else referring to my butt
    9. Anything from a John Travolta movie
    10. Celine Dion and most of the "Diva's" (Except Cher, gotta have some Cher)

Basically we are having an "only" play list.  We are very eclectic and our tastes range from Suicidal Tendencies to Micheal Buble to any hair band from the 80's so there will be more than enough for people of every generation to dance to.  The only thing that I REALLY wanted that the FH nixed was "I saw your mommy" by Suicidal Tendencies, that so sucked because it is one of me and my mom's sentimental favorites.

I realize that is the 'bride and grooms' day, but just remember bees,  many of these songs on here that you hate and don't want played......alot of people LOVE them and it will get people out on the dance floor.  Don't forget to also make your family and friends happy and enjoying themselves on your day!!!!!!

My Do-Not-Play songs would be because they remind me of exes:

I Knew I Loved You Before I Met You, Savage Garden

    Toxic, Britney Spears

There's a Fine, Fine Line from Avenue Q... though why someone would play that at a wedding I have no idea.
