The silly/cheesy songs. Like the Chicken Dance, or Marcrena, or Electric Slide…

Our DJ was horrid, but from what he did play, Michael Jackson seemed to be a crowd pleasure.

Your DJ should know. We left song selection mostly up to our DJ. I don’t really like to play too many songs like cha cha slide, but that is what would get the guests out on the dance floor! All songs like that with a line dance were a hit. Also things like Michael Jackson, where people can immitate dance moves, are popular with almost all ages.

We had a mix of 80’s, 90’s and top 40.  The 80’s pop stuff really got people dancing and singing along, it was great.  The top 40’s stuff, which was played later, kept the younger crowd going until the end of the reception.  We avoided all wedding staples (chicken dance, macarena, etc) because I hate those songs and we still had a full dance floor.

Depends on your crowd, but LMFAO, Bon Jovi, and Pitbull did get the dancefloor busy at my wedding. We skipped all the party-dances like Macarena, YMCA, etc.

We let our DJ direct all those musical concerns.

@Mrs. Coyote:  yes, definitely Shout and Don’t Stop believing were huge hits at ours too!

I know a lot of people don’t like this one, but I love Conga by Miami Sound Machine.  It’s collaborative and upbeat.  If you have a really good DJ he could follow it with something to keep everyone on the dance floor.

MJ, anything 80s, or early 90s cheesy dance hits we all loved but don’t want to admit it.

And Suavemente by Elvis Crespo, THAT one ALWAYS gets ppl up around here.

The new(ish) Pitbull song “Ai Se Eu Tu Pego” went over really well.  Of course classics like Billie Jean by Michael Jackson, You Shook Me All Night Long by AC/DC went over well too.

The garter toss was done to “Jump on It” and everyone loved it. People were dancing at their seats!
