Did you have live music? Ipod? Nothing at all? We are getting married in the desert at sunrise and will be staying in a very small casita with only an ipod docking station to play any sort of music. I might look into a local musician, but we are getting married outdoors at/before sunrise and it will be quite cold. We have zero guests, so it would only be us, the officiant and photographer enjoying the tunes. What did/will you do for music before and during the ceremony?
@bohosioux: We actually had no music. I did not feel like we missed it.
If money were no object, I would have hired an Uilleann piper over anything else (guitar, etc). I think I looked briefly for the area and didn’t find anyone anyway. It was to honor my Irish heritage. Instead I added an Old Irish Blessing to the ceremony.
I know NM is sparsely populated, and not sure if someone near your location would do this, but it could be an option! Maybe with a travel fee, one person/duo doing double duty can be just as cost efficient.
@sienna76: Lol. Sparsely populated? That made me laugh. Albuquerque is a pretty decent sized city and we are marrying just outside of it, so I like that idea, but we have taken another bee’s advice and decided to marry ourselves with a CO marriage license (NO WITNESSES OR OFFICIANT REQ’D) and mail it in after our personal ceremony. I think the ipod idea will work best for us. 🙂
@bohosioux: Ah, I thought you were going way out into the middle of nowhere!
Would you have to get married in CO or whichever county the CO license was issued, or can you use the license and go to NM? I always thought the license was good for that state or county in which you marry.
I guess they would not really know where you went since they could not prove it.
@sienna76: The license allows you to marry and get the marriage certificate from that state. Every state has different laws as to what is required for the license and who is acceptable to marry a couple. I was advised we could mail it in within so many days and the certificate would be mailed out to us. If we couldn’t, we would simply sign at the office and then have the ceremony following.
