We currently have two strollers. Our first is the UppaBaby Vista. We LOVE this stroller. It's incredibly smooth riding and Liv loves the bassinet. We also live in the city, so this is a heavy duty stroller designed for sidewalk bumps and long walks. We also have the UppaBaby G-Luxe as its smaller, much lighter, and easy to take on public transit (the vista is way too big for that). We tend for air the vista on longer walking trips or anywhere we take the car. The G luxe is for short jaunts. Definitely make sure your stroller fits your lifestyle. I have a friend who has a bugaboo chameleon And likes it, but that's def a city stroller and she lives in the country so rarely uses it
Also to note-I bought the car seat adapter for the vista and we haven't used it because Liv DESPISES the car seat. Screams every time she goes near it lol.
I couldn't afford the vista do we got the britax b ready. I love the car seat that just snaps into the frame. Plus it can add a second seat for another child later on.
I've only just started researching strollers like a couple days ago. The one I'm liking is the Joovy scooter ($99 on Amazon) based off the reviews I saw on babble. I still want to check Baby Bargains, Consumer Reports and in particular McClarens. My niece was in one and I loved the one she had. Honestly, I'm not a fan of big bulky strollers, they're a pain to maneuver no matter where you are. So I prefer something a little more compact. And price is a huge factor as well. I want to stay under $200 if possible. Likely one of my brothers will end up buying the stroller for us but I won't ask them to buy us something I wouldn't be willing to pay for.
I'm still on the fence about whether I want to pay a seperate infant car seat or just get the convertible.
I'd always known baby stuff is really expensive from buying stuff for 3 nieces and 2 nephews. But man it doesn't really start to compute till you're looking for your own baby and you start tallying the $$$$$!!
I always thought it was a little pointless to have two strollers (the travel system + jogging stroller), and I want to carry my baby mostly, so I will be registering for just a jogging stroller. I want to follow this thread too in hopes of finding a budget-friendly stroller that is actually GOOD! All the ones that have great reviews are $300+.
I registered for the BabyTrend Velocity Jogging Stroller ($180) that I wheeled around in the store and liked, and has decent reviews...
We have the Bob stroller we got off craigslist with car seat adaptor and really like it for jogging. It's kinda big though so we only use it as a jogging stroller but I jog a lot. For regular outings I've found it's easier to babywear than set up a stroller. My mom did buy a cheap umbrella stroller for when we visit them and that works just fine.
I am struggling with the research lately, I want an all-purpose stroller, have learned through using friends strollers that I am not a fan of the travel system strollers by graco and the like, and I am trying to be somewhat budget friendly. I would love something like a bugaboo or uppababy vista, and I think I might try to find one used, since you can get them for in my budget used.
@troubled: I'm also planning on doing plenty of baby wearing. We definitely need the jogger too though, since I'm planning on going back to running once baby arrives.
As a follow-up, do any of you have good resources for buying used strollers? I've looked around quickly and haven't found any used versions of the stroller we want. I guess that might actually be an advantage to getting something more popular like the BOB.
We did tons of research and are going with the baby jogger city select. The big draw for us was the ability to easily add a second seat, with many configurations, and with two toddlers the child in the rear can still look around. When comparing them in person, we also loved the uppababy vista, but not really useful for the second child, and the britax b ready, but the kid in back would just look at the back of the seat. The City Select is a bit heavier but to us it felt sturdier, and we have friends who just had a second baby and absolutely love it. We are super excited about it!
I haven't researched strollers at all yet since I'm only 12 weeks... but lord have mercy my jaw just hit the floor when I looked at the price on the UppaBaby Vista ... I don't know what the features are or anything so I can't pass judgement, but I had absolutely no idea strollers could be so expensive!!!
I too am looking for an all purpose stroller. I don't do jogging, but lots of walking. I want something light and easy to put together, and of course not very spendy. I think simple is better--i don't think one needs multiple systems or crazy over the top pricey ones. i want something simple, lightweight, and dependable!
@WiLLowTreE: I love my UBV and would gladly pay the money again. It's a great stroller.
We've decided to go with the Britax B-ready. Originally I was all about the UBV, but the weight limitations for the second child made it not as usefull as I orginally thought. So we moved on to either the Baby Jogger City Select and the B-ready. We ended up going with the B-ready because of how easily compatible it was with the Britax infant seat and I found the bassinet on the B-ready to be much nicer (and we plan on using it a lot!).
Good luck in your search!
We registered for the Chicco Cortina, since it had great reviews on TallBabyStuff.com (my husband is 6'8") for height and less likely to be kicked while walking behind it.
My friend has a baby stroller by Jeep and it looks really strong and sturdy compared to most other strollers i've seen. I havent done much research on strollers yet but I'll be looking into the ones by Jeep to see if it they have good reviews.
We have the City Mini, but honestly, we've mainly just used the infant seat + snap and go. We use the City Mini when we're walking from home or taking the metro or something, but pretty much anytime we drive somewhere, it's easier to just put the car seat in the Snap and Go. I do like the City Mini, it folds up really small and really easily. I wouldn't, however, recommend it for anyone over 6 ft. tall (handles aren't adjustable, and DH at 5'11" still kinda wishes they were) or anyone who is going to need to carry a bunch of stuff in the stroller (it's really hard to get to the small storage area under the seat- I can't really fit my big diaper bag in there).
Interesting! My husband is 6'-3" so that's def something to consider. I don't know how tall you are but I'm average at 5'-5" do you think getting something geared towards tall people would make it hard for you if you're average height?
We just have a Graco travel system, but I'm not sure we used the stroller enough to even justify that purchase. I really prefer baby carrying over the stroller, so we rarely use the it... Of course, we don't jog with Addie (we have a treadmill at home) and we don't live in a city. :) Our experience really makes me reconsider whether we want to get a double stroller for #2, or not. Double strollers (especially lightweight ones), are much more expensive, and idk that we'd even use it.
@BabyBoecksMom: That's really funny that they have a website specifically for tall babies and parents! I never would have thought of that, but clearly height is a definite issue for strollers. The jogger that we're looking at isn't recommended for people much shorter than me (5'5") b/c it's sunshade is pretty high, so you wouldn't be able to see over it very well.
@bells: I was reading that the Jeep Limited Urban All-Terrain stroller has GREAT reviews. It is a three-wheel though not exactly designed for jogging. You can lock the front wheel, and some people in the reviews said they used it for jogging and it was fine, but just know that's not it's purpose. I am not a good runner, so I think it could work for me (I want to run after the baby comes to lose weight, but I've never been a runner, so we'll see). I may just have hubby watch baby while I run anyway ;)
Anyway, I think I decided I will register for that one, because at $150 there is a chance someone would buy it for me, but if not, we can afford it. Great reviews for the price!
@miss-spunkin: Yeah I may end up going with Jeep stroller too, I like the Limited Urban All-Terrain stroller and I'm not a runner either so I dont that its not specifically for jogging.
We registered for the Jeep Liberty stroller too- it was my husband's only request, and with such good reviews, no problem for me to say yes! It just got bought off of our registry, so now my husband has a stroller to match his Jeep ;)
It fits our car seat/carrier (Chicco), and can handle outdoor trails and going on dirt (we are definitely not joggers, but avid hikers).
We still have a few months till we get to use it, but I'm pretty excited to have this stuff taken care of. One of my husband's co-workers has one and could not stop talking about how much he loves it. Also I ran into a couple at Ikea that had one, and they absolutley LOVE theirs. Their son is big enough that they were getting him the Jeep bike with training wheels for his birthday- Dad was soooo excited to tell us about it in the checkout line.
Funny that I found my car (Subaru Forester) and stroller by talking to people as I have been leaving Ikea... must go back to learn more ;)

We're just starting to think about baby registries, so I'm curious what stroller all of the mamas out there own and what your stroller recommendations are. ...Or, what's your dream stroller if you don't have a baby yet. Right now we're thinking of using the infant car seat plus the Baby Trend Snap N Go at the beginning, since I've heard such great things about having an easily folding lightweight stroller system. Once the baby gets a little bigger I'd like to transition to this jogging stroller: It's the Joovy Zoom 360
