I’m sitting here watching FI cook dinner (as he does most nights) thinking about how lucky I am and how I love the sweet things he does for me. Specifically, I get up for work earlier than he does, and am extremely cranky, but he still gets up and makes me coffee while I’m in the shower, which is awesome b/c 9 times out of 10 I’m running too late to make my own if he didn’t do that. What sweet things do others FI’s do?

Just last night I was thinking about how lucky I am that he takes the time to put himself in my shoes when I am upset about anything. He makes a concious effort to stop and try to understand why I feel that way. ::sigh:: Specialist Sullivan is perfect for me 🙂

Last night, he vacuumed for me because I had been saying how I was having a hard time breathing the day before. He then offered to spend a Saturday eve doing some chores, that I normally do like cooking. He knew I was overwhelmed this week and irritated that the house was not cleaned because I was so busy. FI moves in after the wedding so it’s extra nice because he is already becoming a true domestic partner in many ways.

He used to do most of the cooking. I was working a retail job and I worked some nights and weekends. Since I’ve been laid off, I do most of the cooking. But he will bring me coffee in bed most weekends and sometimes he even brings me breakfast in bed. He’s a sweetheart!

Where do I start? Well, I’ll start with the thing that means the most to me I ‘spose. I’m a vegetarian and he’s not but has ALWAYS been more aware of it than I am at times. If we ever go out to eat somewhere and I order something minus the meat he’s always sure to remind me to check it and even to taste test it first!! He eats only vegetarian at home even though I’ve said I wouldn’t mind him eating meat. He runs to the store no matter what time it is if I’m feeling under the weather and brings home a whole slew of medicines and anything else he thinks will make me feel better. US Weekly is usually included in that slew of things 🙂 He buys me flowers just because he knows I’ll smile and I love having them in the vase in the living room. He calls me every morning to wake me up because he knows how much I can’t stand the sound of an alarm clock….I could go on and on but I think that’s good for now!

He happened to stop by and pick up a carryout after leaving work and knows that I’m super picky and most likely won’t eat what he brings me … so he got me a chocolate biscoti – he knows I love them and love chocolate, and figured I would at least be satified! lol I thought it was really cute.

My FI knows that I hate mornings, but I always have to work an hour earlier than him. Even though he could blissfully sleep in until 8:00 a.m., he sets his alarm for seven because he knows that I will always sleep through my 6:30 alarm. Even though that sounds like a minor thing, he does it every. single. day. I probably would be unemployed for tardiness if it weren’t for him.

Lots and lots! He’s really lovely 🙂
When I’m trying to finish assignments he does the dishes for me after tea (if mum cooks, I’m meant to do them. He often eats with us). If I’m not doing assignments he helps me with them anyway.
He makes sure I’m looked after and brings me cups of green tea, and chocolate, and water, and tissues (anything I ask for). And buys blue cheese and english muffins and things that he knows I love so that when I’m at his house I can eat them all! (Well, I have competition for the blue cheese).
If there’s something I want to go to or see he’s always open to it, and reminds me about it (I’m really forgetful).
He’s fantastic about waking me up in the mornings – I wake up slowly and snooze for a while, and he’s really gentle whilest making sure I don’t oversleep. (I guess it pays off, as if I wake up nicely I’m all roses & fluffy ducks, but if I wake up abruptly I’m a bit grizzley for a while).
He looks after my car – I drive it, he checks warrant and rego dates, deals to rust and funny noises, even takes it to the mechanics for me.
Plus he’s great at talking and being verbally expressive, and wants to know what I think about things and how I feel/why etc.
Ahh I could go on, but I need to go to sleep! I love Mr V, he makes me happy 🙂
