Since March is riiight on that brink between winter and spring, what are you going with? Wintery or springy? Or a theme?
I'll start! The colors are sky blue and soft yellow (one of my favorite combos). I'm a huge Disney/Alice in Wonderland fan, so I'm bringing in a lot of that retro Disneyland look, as well as ties to Alice (the flower girl in an Alice dress, teapots on the tables, etc.)
What about you?
I'm getting married in GA which has pretty bipolar weather. For example, two weeks ago, it was 75 degrees and my parents said they were in shorts washing the cars. Last weekend I went home to do some wedding related stuff and it as 45 and rainy all weekend. Since I don't know if it will feel like winter or spring, I'm hovering on the middle ground.
I'm using a light blue and white/ivory color combo. That way, if it's chilly and winter feeling the blue will be "icy" but if it's warm and feels like spring time, the blue will feel spring time appropriate. As of now, we don't really have a theme. It's just us. :)
my wedding is in october... the colors are turquoise & black!
i wanted to stay away from the "fall" colors... its starting to all come together... our theme is "bling" everything must sparkle and just be accented in the turquoise color!
DCAnna, that's a really good idea! It's nice to be prepared for whatever the weather and mood might be. :)
Bridezill2009, way to branch out from the usual color schemes! Turquoise and bling...sounds pretty!
Our wedding is ini September. We're doing black and white with pops of bright yellow.
Ironic since our wedding is in Pittsburgh and it's the colors of the Steelers!
thanks gidgett!
i can't wait til the BM dresses come in... all i have is a lil swatch of the color.... ughs... June is too far! ![]()
@Gidgett I love your theme. That will be a great way to have some sort of interest that is not too overwhelming or "theme-y"
Our colors are lemon and celadon (bright yellow and light green) and we are getting married on a dude ranch, so it will be kind of americana/country/romance/fresh/sweet feeling. I wish I could come up with a word that could fit all of that!
Thanks, MoSnow! :) Your colors sound beautiful together...so fresh and springy! Maybe it's...country springtime? Maybe?
But even if it doesn't have a name, it's pretty. :)
I'm doing a calla lily theme and the colors will be red and white.
@gidgett i'm doing yellow and blue too! mostly yellow with perrywinkle accents. I'm a spring girl at heart- even iof it snows on my wedding day!
ohhh that sounds nice:) mine is in september, im using deep purple and champagne. so its fallish:)
Our wedding is in September, and our colors are white, kelly green, navy blue, magenta, and mustard! :) I'm greedy.
I'm having a March 2010 wedding as well and since it will be in Tampa, FL I am feeling Spring! We are doing a limey (but not electric) green and a deep navy-ish blue with pops of color in the flowers, lots of white and tan as well!
We're doing green and chocolate brown...
I know, I know, it's been a bit over used in bridal mags and such, but I just love that combo! I initially thought I should steer away from anything I see on mags and local weddings, but I just can't!
I just bought green shoes to wear under my dress! Yay!
We're getting married in June, but we're using an irrisdescent purple so it almost looks magenta in some lights, but is a bright purple in others. I'm going to accent it with an ivory color so that it compliments it in both lights, the purple and pink hue. Our theme is orchids, like the one that is my advatar. I'm trying not to go overkill with them though because they can be really expensive. We found an awesome invitation with purple orchicds on it, and I think we're going to have them on our cake as well.
getting married in October in Dallas, which does NOT feel like fall. Everything is still green and things bloom again, and we'll be in a giant gazebo. We don't have a real color scheme... will be using a combination of cobalt blue glass vases and regular glass vases. The only flower I KNOW we will have is yellow roses. I think we're just bringing in color through the food and flowers because I don't care for the colors available for linens through our rental company. also, I think that color schemes are limiting and make you spend more.
My wedding is actually a week before Spring officially begins. LOL I am still calling myself a spring bride though. Living in Houston, it is really hit or miss what the weather will be like. It could be in the high 80s or low 50s. Either way, I decided because usually by March things do feel Springy except for the occasional last frost, I'd go with lavender. When we thought we were marrying in October I was going to do dark purple with red flowers. My favorite color is purple so now it has turned in to lavender and dark purple with more emphasis on the lavender. I am also adding splashes of chartruese for contrast.
Purple and chartreuse will look good! At least I hope so, as that is two of my three colors! My main colors are chocolate and chartreuse, with a mix of purple in there as well. Our flower girl dresses are lavender, the BM dresses are chartreuse, and then I'm hoping to do all of the flowers in purples. The chocolate is primarily in the invites and other paper goods right now, but I am sure I will fit it in somewhere during the reception.
I was originally hoping for a March wedding, but alas... anyways, this is what I had planned either way.
I'm getting married in early spring and our colors are brown and lilac.
I'm having such a hard time finding the 2 colors together(everything is pink/brown or blue/brown) but it's great knowing its not a comman color combo
My wedding's on the first day of spring, so I decided to go with a lot of green and gold. There are a lot of ferns and trees at our venue and not many flowers, so I thought it fit well. :)
Ours is in Sept, but I have always had the image of all of my BMs wearing black and each BM having a different jewel tone that will match her flowers and possibly a shawl she'll have.
We're getting married this fall and I was really really really hoping for damask with red accents but our venue, which is gorgeous, is very strongly colored. Its a golf club that looks like a Tudor castle, the room for the ceremony is a deep red wine and the banquet hall is blue on blue patterned walls. So we're going with chocolate brown, gold and blue accents. I didn't want to compete with the room so we're just going to incorporate it.
My wedding is in June, we're using pale pink, pale yellow and cream/off white. And since my man is from a small town and most of my family is from California we really wanted to incorporate a down home feeling
I wish I was daring enough to do the chocolate with purple! I saw the mix after I decided my colors. I am also so loving damask accents.....Oh, if I could just start over! LOL
Our colors are gold, ivory, and dark brown. Our venue is a restaurant with wood flooring, dark brown wood tables, dark brown leather chairs, and a fireplace, it has some muted yellow/apricot/orange accenting, and pukey chartreuse walls. It's a very warm space. I'm still trying to decide if we should incorporate the apricot or chartreuse anywhere. I want to find a way to get the apricot color into our envelope liners for a pop of color, because otherwise everything is gold, ivory, and chocolate. I might throw in a few apricot or green flowers into our floral arrangements, which are otherwise going to just be ivory flowers in gold vases.
I'm getting married early October this year and my colors are going to be black and ivory. We're doing single black and ivory damask runners on the round tables, and I'm using accents of a limey/sage green :)
@josie978 - I have noticed that limey-sage green is pretty popular right now.
I am having the most difficult time finding a shade of green that will go well that is too "electric" or too yellow. The ribbon I used for my tissue packets is called lime but I have not been able to find a paper color to match it. So I may just stick to accenting the green with ribbon and flowers. I really like the cymbidium orchids but that would be an additional $250, which I don't want to spend. as of now I think I am going with the green button mums.
We are doing the light aquaish blue and buttercream yellow.... the blue is used a lot but I like it and it goes with the beach location!
Our wedding is in May....we're doing lime green and pink...I think it will be springy and flirty and fun....I hope! :)
we are having gray as our primary color, chartreuse as our accent and plum flowers. we are also having a black and white striped theme...it's gonna look AWWesome!
We aren't really having a theme, since it is going to be an outdoor September wedding, but our colors are Burgundy and Gold. = )
Our wedding is at the end of May and we will be using black and white (mainly in damask patterns) with accents of a shade of green between kelly green and lime.
Our wedding is on Halloween, but we aren't going with that theme. Our colors are a deep eggplant purple and silver, with some small touches of orange. We actually have a Disney theme going, with the table names, the centerpieces, and the cake.
I'm March too! I wanted to not focus on the march springyness without some winter richness as well. So, I decided on a b&w damask with green apple accents. YAY MARCH BEES!
We're going for a classic feel. Our colors are aubergine (eggplant) and grey with green accents. I wanted to focus on texture and not just color, so we're using a pasiley theme in our invites, our centerpeices, and our escort cards.
We're using a dark blue (sapphire blue), a warm green (or olive), and silver. The blue is to match my sapphire engagement ring! Oh I'm excited!!
@kjpugs Those were my original colors when we thought the reception was going to be in a hall. I even had some of those same inspiration photos! (How amazing was that bridal shower!?)
Then, we switched to an outdoor gardeny setting. I changed our colors to a more airy palette.
As far as a theme goes, we're going to use a lot of fabrics, buttons, ric rac, grosgrain ribbon... Hopefully it'll end up looking a little bit modern, a little bit country, whimsical and cute : )
