We’re having a Venetian masquerade theme at our wedding. Well, last night, my Fiance came home and said, “We should give out sugar-coated almonds as favors at the wedding. Three of them. That symbolizes fertility. They’re called confetti.” I was confused. He proceeded to tell me that he had been talking to his best friend, who is Italian, all day about Italian wedding traditions. “Since we’re doing a Venetian masquerade,” he said, “I thought we should tie in the Italian theme with other stuff, too!” He had all sorts of ideas: apparently Italians break a glass when they get married (different symbolism than in the Jewish tradition, though), so he thought we could do that. He also wants signs for us that say “bride” and “groom” in Italian. He had other ideas, too, but there were so many that I can’t remember them all.
I knew he was really excited about our marriage, and I knew he was looking forward to the big party our wedding will be. He doesn’t usually have ideas, though, so something as little as this, as taking time out of his day to talk with his friend about cool little things to do to help our theme, really showed me how excited he is about the wedding itself.
What sorts of things have your FIs done?

My fiance wasn’t into the planning at all until I mentioned that we could do a barbeque for the food…then he was all interested! He didn’t care about the venue…until we went to see it, and then he was all excited! (We almost didn’t get it and he was really agitated until we found out that we did) Then he got all excited about the flowers…he’s a bit of a green thumb so that made sense… Now he wants to know what we’re doing for invitations…he wants me to make them so that they’ll be “special” He’s a very “manly” man, so I was kind of (pleasantly) surprised!

He’s very subtle. I found a countdown on his tablet today 😉

@missshayona: That is incredibly cute.

My Fiance is trying to stay out of everything, but I mentioned since we are getting married the day before Canada day, we should do something special for Out of Town guests the day after. We are organizing a street hockey game/BBQ. That’s about all he’s excited for now! At least he’s got something!

He hasn’t really offered any ‘ideas’, per se, but he’s very involved with the food, and music/DJ selection. The food I understand, as he’s a chef (as is his father), and he only wants the best, but the other night he got right into the DJ thing. Apparently he has 3 friends who DJ professionally, so he wants to get one of them to do it.. could be interesting! He’s also joining Pinterest, which I find so cute. I can’t wait to see what he finds/likes. 😛
We haven’t yet finalized our date, but I’m sure that once we do, he’ll have a lot of input–he’s very much about us planning together.

My Fiance is actually more excited than me!
I would be so happy with a private ceremony and going out to dinner. And possibly having our immediate families. But he wants to invite the world!

My Fiance is starting to get into it now. When I talk about flowers, and dances, and songs for the wedding, he gets all into it.

My Fiance is finally really getting into. I mean he has helped all along, but mostly when I ask. Although he did go online and find part of the centerpieces by himself.
He was on the phone with one of his groomsmen the other day and I heard him say that he has to start getting more organized.
I wonder what that means! Hopefully more help on the finer details like timelines and the ceremony.

Darling Husband actually helped with a lot of the DIY stuff…we wound up unintentionally having an Italian theme, which was perfect considering his love of Italy and wine.
I also found a countdown on his phone, and he was REALLY excited about the dollar dance so he’d have a chance to dance with his cousin’s baby.

Sadly, my Fiance is not into any of wedding details. I do ask him about things here and there and he will let me know what he thinks of it, but other than that he doesn’t show much interest. He keeps saying how scared he is about being the center of attention on the wedding day. And i feel the same way!

Mr. KO could give a rats a$$ about the event of the wedding itself, he’s bummed that we’re not eloping on a cruise ship like we had originally wanted, and he has no shame for acting like a brat about it. I’ve accepted that he’s not into it, c’est la vie…
His ring came in the mail yesterday and when he got home from work he couldn’t wait to try it on, then refused to take it off until this morning. It was pretty adorable.
