Between 12 noon and 2pm when I am on my own time.  When invited to get togethers and unless told otherwise, I would generally expect to be fed lunch during normal lunch hours (12 noon and 2pm.)

A good photographer will be able to work with the lighting.  That said, there will be some “dream” shots the you just won’t get because of the time of day your pictures will be taken.  The golden times for pictures are sunrise and sunset, lunch time pictures are not going to fall during either of those times.  If there are dream pictures you absolutely must have the “perfect” lighting for, I say to schedule a follow up bridal session for you and your husband a few weeks or months later.

@beachbride1216:  Same! I eat around 1PM during the week and usually around 12 on the weekends.

We served a lunch reception, and the wedding didn’t start until about 1pm.  We did at least host light apps during cocktail hour (for the guests, so they wouldn’t get bored or starve to death while we took photos- no first look for us either!) then we had our introduction & first dance at 2pm, and then a plated lunch was served.

We noted on the invitation that a lunch reception followed the ceremony, and we hosted some food to hold people over.  We also listed on our wedding website the order of events (Ceremony, Cocktail Hour, Lunch, Dancing & Other Shenanigans) so people could easily tell the wouldn’t be fed a full meal immediately following the ceremony.

I think anywhere between 11-2 is ok, since your guests will know the timing beforehand and they can just make sure to eat a bigger breakfast or whatever if they think they’ll be hungry!

During the week, I eat at 11am, but that’s because I am up at 6.

On the weekend, anywhere from 12-2pm.

I think your original time for lunch is fine.  Like PP pointed out the photog should be able to adjust for lighting.

@DaneLady:  That was a great idea!  I don’t mind getting fed later so long as I get forwarning so I know to eat a late breakfast or pack a snack in my purse.

I was once invited to a costume party on a Friday Night where we had to be bused in from another location (I thought how swanky right?)  We had to be at the buses by 5pm and we were at the party location by 6pm.  However, somebody screwed up and only ordered three platters of hors d’eurves for 50 people.  Needless to say everyone was starving.  I decided to be rude and I ordered three pizzas and shared them with my friends at my table.  We were stuck there until 10pm with no food and no warning over dinner time!  WTF!?!

I think it would be fine if you had the ceremony from 12-12:30, and pictures 12:30-1:30 with reception lunch at 1:30.

Would that solve your lighting problem though?

@onourway13:  I work at a school, so I eat when the kids eat. That’s at 11:40 am. If I’m not working, I eat lunch sometime between 12 and 2.

For our ceremony in January, we had a cocktail hour (apps and margaritas) from 1:30 to 2:30pm, got on the boat at 2:45, had the ceremoney from 3 to 3:15, and started eating/drinking around 3:30.

I think starting lunch any time from 11 am and 2 pm is fine. If I know I’m going somewhere/doing something, I adjust my other meals around that.
