I’m having a hard time deciding when to start our wedding. I don’t know if it should be sometime between 4-5 because it might not be too warm, or after 5 because it might be too warm earlier.
We are thinking about doing our pictures before the ceremony, then having a wine tasting cocktail hour before the main reception.
I don’t know what to do and I should be booking the marriage commissioner right about now too.

We had pictures in the morning and started our ceremony at 4:30. We calculated an hour for that and then dinner at 6:30. Don’t know if that will help you any, but that is what we did.

Right now I think we have in our contract that the ceremony is at 4:00 pm (my DJ/photo booth contracts have 5 pm start times). We may push it back to 5 pm, but I’m not sure! The latest we can be in our venue is 10:30 pm, so startng later can take us to that cutoff point without having to pay our vendors extra. I just get worried about the weather/temperature as well since our ceremony and cocktail hour are outside.
We are also doing pictures before the ceremony so that we can enjoy cocktail hour.

5:30pm. Cocktails at 6pm and then dinner at 7.

My times are picked for me by the venue. 5:30 ceremony and dinner should start around 7pm. In order to save time for reception fun we are taking a lot of pictures before the ceremony.

My ceremony starts at 7:30 pm (I’m having a Catholic ceremony so it was either 12:30 or 7:30 – ugh). We’re having a 45 min cocktail hour directly after that (to give my FI and I time to just be together, eat a little something, etc.) and then the dinner/reception begins. I’m guessing everything will be over about 1 or 2 am.
We are taking pretty much every single picture that we possible can before the ceremony starts so that we can get straight to the party. At first, I was a little disappointed to be having my ceremony start so late in the day, but the more I think about it, the more happy I am I went with the late start.

Ours is starting at around 3:30 or 4pm and then dinner will be around 6:30. Need to work out how much time we need in between for photos.

We are doing a first look around 2 at a site other than our venue because we can only get to our venue about an hour before the ceremony (ANNOYING). And the rest of the day flows like so..
515- arrive at venue, spend another twenty minutes or so taking photos at venue with FI, delegate minor decorating tasks to BMs
545- hide upstairs from early bird guests arriving, drink champagne with ladies
630- ceremony start
7-830- extended cocktail hour

We’re doing our ceremony at 5:30, cocktail hour 6-7 and reception 7-10. We have our venue from 10am-10pm and we will be getting ready in the bridal suite there. I cant wait!

@autumnlynnhill: So your actual wedding will be a little less than 5 hours? I’m glad to hear that because that’s exacty what I was thinking, but then I got a little scared because I thought that may be too short of a time span.

@BreezyBride24: The venue recommended 11:30. There’s no minimum or maximum time, though, so I guess it will really depend on when people start clearing out.

@BreezyBride24: Yep! Roughly 530-10pm. We will be in the bridal suite at our venue all day though, giving us plenty of time for decor and pictures!
