Hi all! I found an e-ring and wedding band I loved on Pinterest. My boyfriend and I took the picture to a jeweler, who had my e-ring made to (try to) match the one in the picture. There was only one angle on the pinterest photo, so the jeweler wasn’t sure what the side of the setting looked like. I’m engaged now and am honestly a little shocked by how the ring turned out. It sits so high up due to a bridge in the setting. I recieved a sketch of the ring before it was made and the bridge didn’t seem as noticeable to me. I didn’t really pay attention to it but wish now that I would have said not to do any bridge. The bridge looks kind of weird and modern. I’ve had difficulty finding a wedding band (like the one in the pinterest photo) that doesn’t disappear under my e-ring. What should I do? Should I ask that my diamond be placed in a setting that doesn’t sit up so high? Do any of you have bridges like this that work well with a wedding band? I’m starting to become a little sad about how it all turned out and wish I would have just gone with something already made!

@Eringadviceplease: i think yours is fine but you have to be happy.
here is mine.
i decided on a wedding band that matched my e-ring but this is one i looked at. this one sits under the center stone on the e-ring. the band i went with that i do not have a picture of sits next to the e-ring with a little gap because the part holding the diamond V’s out a litte.

Your ring is GORGEOUS! And high-set stones always seem to look bigger, at least to me!

I think it looks great! Mine sits kind of on a bridge I guess too, and I like how it looks.

In the original pinterest photo, they have a plain, thin (probably 1 or 2mm wide) spacer ring and then a larger, shared prong eternity ring (something like this). The eternity ring looks like a pretty good carat weight to me, probably 2 or 3cttw.
I think your ring looks lovely. I especially love how thin and delicate the band is. If you’re not happy with it, I would talk to your jeweler to see what your options are.

@Eringadviceplease: If you’re going the custom route, you have to know exactly what you want if you’re going to be picky. If money is no object, then I would remake the ring until you like it. Just know what you want this time! And maybe try on some pre-made rings.
It sits so high up due to a bridge in the setting.
I don’t think it sits high because of the cathedral setting at all. Those are two separate elements of your ring. It could have a very low setting with a very low cathedral. It just so happens you had your ring made very high, so the cathedral was made to accommodate that. I would never like to wear a high-profile ring, so I got a ring with a cathedral and with a fairly low profile.

@Eringadviceplease: I really like the setting and I agree with PP that higher settings will sometimes make the stone look larger.

@Eringadviceplease: Stunning ring! I get what your saying. If that were my ring, I would knock it on everything! How long ago did you get it?
I had issues with a custom ring not being like planned. I told them when I got the ring and the jeweler let me take it home for 7 days to decide. 3 days in, i got over it and liked it. Liked. not loved. day 6, i decided to take it back and i got what i want and am in love with my ring.
i think if it bothers you now, it will bother you later. You may get over it, but deep down it may still bother you forever. i would talk to the jeweler. akward and awful i know, but worth it, would you feel good about paying tons of money on something that isnt perfect to you? you will be wearing it forever and seeing that bridge forever! lol

@Eringadviceplease: If you aren’t happy, then I would change it. With that in mind, if you have time to think about it, I would see if you get used to the ring sitting high. If you have never worn a ring before, then it will seem much higher than it is. I had a promise ring for awhile, but it took some time for me to get used to my engagement ring. Mine sits VERY high, but as soon as I got used to it, I ended up loving it. If time permits, give it a little while to get used to, and if you still aren’t happy, then return it.
