My fiance and i have been saving and saving for our wedding. We didnt have much, but it was something. Then my car broke and we had to get a new one. Now we cant afford the wedding. I tried to take out a loan but i have no credit and he’s paying off his car. we dont want to change the date. and we’ve thought about eloping, but our parents are strict catholics and would disown us if we didnt get married in the church. WHAT DO WE DO?!?!?

I’d postpone it… Or just have your ceremony in the church and have a low key reception. Or have a reception on your anniversary and save til then?
Im sorry if this isn’t too helpful but your question doesn’t give much detail., as in how far you guys are in to planning & what is already paid for . Dress? Rings? Grooms suit? Marriage licence? If you have those things I mentioned, you have the bare necessities to get married. I guess it’s what matters to you.., the wedding or all the bells and whistles?

You could still get married in the church without the huge expense. Just have a ceremony and save the reception for when you can afford it

- Wedding: February 2015 - Chapel on Base
Get married in the church on your chosen day. Celebrate on your own on your wedding night. Next year on your anniversary have another celebration. Or, save your money and have a honeymoon on your first anniversary.
