I am trying to decide whether to have makeup done by a professional, friend, or at the mall. The professional is expensive but I could do it. I have a girlfriend that really wants to do my makeup, which I would be fine with. However, I don’t really want to buy all my own product, because I will be doing an airbrush tan, so I would be buying makeup for a skin color I will almost never have! If the professional does it she can use her own stuff and I don’t have to buy it. The final option is to get it done the morning of at the mall. Mac? Sephora? Do you bees think it would last long enough, through getting dressed, hair done, etc?

My bff had her makeup done at Bobbi Brown. All she did was buy powder and lipstick to freshen up. She looked lovely and makeup lasted all day! // Also, I’d go get samples of foundations if you’re afraid that the airbrush tan might make you darker than usual. // I like MAC over Sephora. I feel like the makeup artists at MAC knows their products better.

I had a professional, but was told to get my own foundation so that it would be a perfect match. Also, if I was going to spend alot on good quality makeup, I wanted one I would use again after. I went to Sephora and was matched to Lacome, that makeup is just amazing. It covered everything, but was light and did not look like a cake at all. It also brightened up my face while the others washed it out. I can not go back to anything else. I am prone to breakouts as well and this makeup was a life saver. I bought the foundation, concealer, and powder. She provided eye shadow, mascarra, fake lashes and everything else.
I say if you can hire the professional, go for it. They will do it at your venue and can stick around to freshen you up if you need them to.

I wouldn’t recommend the mall. It might be cheaper/easier, but if something gets smudged at any point getting ready, or if you want to “freshen up” after the ceremony, or before photos– you wont have the stuff to fix it.
Between the professional and your friend– I would go with your friend and skip the tan– why would you want to look that much darker for just one day? I think it would be nicer if you looked like yourself, only glammed-up for the wedding day– IMO, having your skin darker than it ever is would look funny in the photos.

I had my sister do my makeup. She did an amazing job and I’m glad I had her do it.
