OK here’s the situation and I’m sure others have faced this so I’m throwing it out for ideas. SO and I aren’t engaged yet but are planning on it at some point soon. Anyway, I was planning on asking his sisters as well as two of my friends to be in the wedding. Well his oldest sister just annouced she’s pregnant. While she won’t be by the time we get married (we’re thinking late to end of 2012), she will be VERY pregnant by the time dresses need to be ordered. What do you guys suggest I do? Obviously if she ordered a dress there is no guarentee it would fit her since she obviously wouldn’t be able to try it on. Ideas? Anyone?

I’m curious to hear responses as well. I have a Bridesmaid or Best Man who is due 1 month before the wedding. She will obv need to order her Bridesmaid or Best Man dress while pregnant :/

I’m also curious. My sister in law to be is going to be pretty pregnant when we shop for dresses and she will have JUST had the baby when we get married so how is she to predict what size she will be a few weeks after giving birth?

These women will know what size they were before pregnancy. They can always order one size up depending on the style of the dress and how long after the birth they will be wearing the dress. Better to order too large as it can always be taken in.

Some places are willing to work with you when it comes to pregnant BM’s. I personally had a great experience with David’s Bridal. When we bought the dresses, my sister was not pregnant. By the wedding came around she was 7 months pregnant. They let her return it and get the correct one in her size. I was so impressed by the way they handled it. They actually have baby bumps to try on under the dress as well that vary in size, so she was able to try on the dress with a bump to determine the size.

This was the situation for my best friend when we were in our other friend’s wedding. She just ordered one size up from her regular size since the wedding was going to be only two months after she gave birth. Your Bridesmaid or Best Man should be able to figure this out, not something you should have to worry about.

Yeah they’re pretty good at handling this at bridal salons. One of my bridesmaids was about six months pregnant when we ordered dresses. They ended up ordering one size up from her pre-pregnancy size. It actually was still small and they had to let it out so I would recommend two sizes up because its easier to take it in instead of let it out. This is definitely a common occurance though.
