So, our wedding was originally going to be in the spring (March 5, 2011) and all of my bridesmaids bought their dresses: short, ligt blue, chiffon dresses. But we had to push back our date to December, so now I’m worried that my girls are going to be freezing! It’s too late to order long dresses. I could get them all wraps, but what about their legs?
Granted, the wedding’s in South Florida, so there’s no snow or anything like that. And both the ceremony and reception are indoors. But I’m thinking about taking pictures and getting to the church and venue. Plus, won’t short dresses look odd in the winter?
Any thoughts or suggestions?

@mari892: What sort of temperature would it be in Dec? If it’s not too cold then would it be possible to get away with getting them a wrap? As you don’t want to have to get them all new dresses obviously. Or unless you push it back to early 2012?

Tights could work if your having a quirky or casual wedding. Probably not if it’ s very formal.
Just an idea 🙂

The average temperature in December 2010 was about 60 degrees. We can’t push the wedding back anymore because we’re working around our school schedules (we’re both medical students).
I think tights are really cute! But we’re having a pretty formal wedding, so I don’t know how well it would go with everything else.

Florida isnt that cold even in the winter, I wear knee length dresses and skirts in the winter with tights all the time.

60 degrees is warm enough that bare legs will be fine. I’d just get them warm pashminas. They can always wear nude pantyhose to at least give them an extra layer, although I’d probably prefer bare legs. And since it’s Florida short dresses won’t look weird.

I live in Ontario Canada and we get snow. I was in a December wedding last year and we had cocktail lenght strapless dresses. We had wraps to cover us up and I wore nude hose (I dont know if they provide warmth). I wouldn’t worry about the lenght, just make sure they have something to cover up top.

I think 60 degrees would be fine for bare legs, especially since the wedding and reception are both indoors. The girls should be fine going outside for photos.

As long as you don’t make them take too many pictures outside, I think the the short dresses will be fine. I wear dresses in the winter and never wear hose or tights and I haven’t frozen my legs off yet. The wraps are a great idea!

@mari892: O your in Florida! Well 60 degrees is bearable in short dresses, I think it’ll look fine !

@mari892: I think they’d be fine in short dresses as other PPs have said.

Think of all the women in Florida in December. They are NOT all wearing long dresses. The short dresses will be fine.

when the weather channel tells me it’s 60 degrees here, that’s when I break out the shorts =P I think you will be totally fine with the short bridesmaid dresses!
