I went room to room, cleaned EVERY piece of furniture, and decluttered EVERYTHING. We must have thrown out 1/4 of the stuff in our apartment!

If we hadn’t used it in a year, it got donated!

I’m not concerned about baby proofing at this stage so I’m not doing anything with outlet’s, etc… I have a lot of time left to do that. Right now I’m going room to room cleaning things out and tagging them for a big city wide garage sale that happens in May and moving them out. I don’t like clutter and I want to be organized and have plenty of space for baby and to move the stuff that’s in the current guest room out of there.

@MrsBG:  child locks on cabinets. Clean everything you possibly can and stock up on freezer meals!

Commenting to follow. I have to make a list :-

@Ninteenthchance:  +1 I also found some table corner covers for coffee tables that I plan on using in additional to baby proofing cabinets, toilet, etc.

@megz06:  yes! We ended up getting rid of the coffee table and getting a big storage ottoman instead because I was so paranoid about it! We had to get a toilet lock eventually too because DD thought it was fun to “give her friends a bath” in the toilet lol

@MrsBG:  honestly, I could not live without the cabinet locks. As soon as DD was old enough to open and close the cabinet doors she was pulling crap out of the cabinets and it WOULD NOT STOP! She’s two now and would still do it to this day if the locks weren’t there. That said, I didn’t go extreme with child proofing and just got a toilet lock a couple months ago because DD thought it was fun to play in the toilet. We also don’t have baby gates but we do have outlet covers on ALL outlets and doorknob covers cause DD kept trying to run away lol

@MrsBG:  Do yourself a favor and clean your fridge, throw out all the old stuff, take all the shelves out and disinfect it all.

Put a bin in the living room and your room, just for errant baby stuff that gets left, dropped or thrown and can’t be dealt with right then…if you don’t have time to put it away, you can at least put it in the bin for later.

Make Go Bags for all your cars.  Each contains an extra bottle, change of clothes for you and baby, first aid kit, stuffed animal, blanket and a trash bag…trust me, you’ll use these sooner or later and often when out and about.

Stock up on easy to cook meals, I’d get it over with, make lasagna, chili, casseroles and anything else you can freeze for those first couple of weeks when you can’t tell what day it is or remember the last time you had a shower…you can turn on the oven, and pop it in…DINNER!
