What to do if you really do look ugly in pictures?

“Everyone who’s seen them of course has said they’re great, but they’re just being nice.”

Just keep in mind that we’re all our biggest critic. We stare at ourselves every day, so of course we’re going to see every tiny detail that is wrong.

@peachacid:  Everyone that has ever posted that they look horrible in their pictures posted them and you know what? They didn’t look horrible at all.

@peachacid:  I’m going to be 100% honest. and I mean it, because I have no reservations… you’re just some stranger on the internet, haha. I think it looks fine! Do you look like some picturesque model on pinterest? No, but who the fuck does look like that? I really think you look great. I love your dress, it’s an interesting pose that I’ve never seen anyone do (and I like it!), and your makeup looks top notch. Bravo!

@peachacid:  I think you’re absolutely insane. There is nothing at all fat about you.

@peachacid:  Walk away and don’t look at them for a bit. Give it a few weeks if you must. You will find that with a bit of time you will gain an appreciative perspective of your own photos and even those you felt were awful will suddenly be your favorites.

We are our worst critics and we expect these over the top, perfect images no thanks in part to Pinterest and wedding magazines. Don’t compare yourself to anyone else, you were a beautiful bride!

OMG! You look adorable. No fat arms, double chin, bags or ugliness in this photo at all.

I’m slouching in all my photos… if only I could do them all over again.  :-/

I understand where you are coming from, because I have the same issue. I always seem to be standing crookedly or have a weird smile or my hair is sticking up. I just never learned to pose nicely for photos. The chin thing gets me too. I only feel slightly better when I watch America’s Next Top Model and realize that even skinny, beautiful, striking girls can struggle to take a decent picture. LOL.

Ay chance you could have the photos edited, you know, airbrushed like a celebrity might? Not to make you look fake, of course, just to soften the images a bit and present your best self?

Honestly, I’m one of those people who are just horribly unphotogenic. My confidence is fine and when I look in the mirror I know I’m pretty, but holy cow do I look horrible in photos. Even FI has admitted that I do not look “right” in pictures, lol.

I pretty much just forced myself to accept this and when we get our pictures taken for the wedding, I’m gonna have to keep reminding myself that I’m simply unphotogenic and there’s really not that much to do about it except know that I’m much better looking in person and on video.

Oh, and there’s always photoshop.
