What to do with a bad decor person?

@BunBear:  You must have liked their work or you wouldn’t have hired them. Can you schedule an in person meeting so the two of you can come to some sort of agreement on communication? This is a busy season for anyone involved in the wedding industry, so you may have to cut her some slack.  You still have lots of time to plan for your wedding.

most decor people that I have spoken to are busy.

if its a larger company where you are meeting with a representitive then I would expect more time, but if its the decorator that you actually speak to then communication can be problematic.

If you know their work and it really great then I would cut a little slack. When its your day they will be worrying about you.

It’d be good to consider the timeline here… it’s their busy season for weddings this summer, and your wedding is next summer (if your date on your posts is correct).

Is there anything with your decor that has to be done now? If not, the decor people may be thinking that your work can wait until they actually have time to focus on it.

I know that it’s not professional for them to wait so long to get back to you, but they may be in a position where they need to put their effort into this summer’s weddings, but they don’t want to be rude and tell you to wait until they have some free time. So you end up on the bottom of the to-do list. (On the bright side, this means they’ll be focusing on your wedding next summer, instead of being distracted by the brides who are getting married the summer after you.)

Given that you’re working considerably earlier than a lot of people, I’d cut them a break for a couple of months. Even if they turn out to be negligent, you’ll still have plenty of time to re-book someone new.

Also, I know other vendors are being more cooperative, but they’re going above and beyond what they need to be doing at this point, I think.
