funnily enough , just last night i watched Mamma Mia, and they had an outdoor wedding, and they were placing tea lights into jam jars and hanging them in the tress, i thought then what a lovely idea that was.
you could also wrap them with ribbon and use them for placing your bouquets in.
oooh!
I made these (similar) for my sister's bridal shower. You can get the wooden spoons pretty cheap off the internet (10 bucks for 150), the cute stickers from zazzle, and twine/ribbon your choice.

@maureen9004: That's such a precious and yummy idea!!
You can use them for drinking out of if you are having a rustic wedding. Lemonade?
I've also seen a thread a while back that had cupcakes in jars for favors. That would be a huge hit I'm sure!
Depending on the feel of your wedding you could definitely use them for lemonade / idea tea, even wine or mixed drinks - especially because it's in the summer. It also looks beautiful to put ivory colored candles in the jars and use them as centerpieces or decorations. ORRRR you could give them to me because I'm working to collect hundreds of jars for the candle idea mentioned above :). Good luck! Jars are very versatile and look pretty in several ways.
You can bake little pies in each of them! You put all the ingredients into the jars, put the lid on, and freeze them until you're craving pie! Or, you bake them all the night before your wedding and people can reheat them when they get home...

make some home made jam and use them as favors. and cover the lids with some fabric that matches your colors = ) thats what im thinking of doing...
I was also thinking of putting some candles in them and maybe lining your aisle with them?
@mrpatrick1: My friend did that for her wedding - they put her grandmother's famous rhubarb/strawberry jam in the jam jars, covered the lids with some foam and a colourful piece of material on top, and tied an elastic around it to hold the material on. It was cute, and delicious!!
Oh my goodnes the little jar pies just made my life a litte happier.
What lovely suggestions! I like the candle idea - it wouldn't work in our church, but could be in the garden of our venue. Drinking out of them really wouldn't fit with our relatively formal/traditional wedding (and even if we were having a very rustic wedding, there is no way my OH would agree to serving drinks in jam jars!).
The cake and pie ideas are precious and have reminded me of "cookie mix" jars which I came across last year. Not sure if I'll have the time for that.
Unfortunately, I haven't been saving the lids (so far at least), so I'm going to struggle with anything using lids...
Okay just had to tell yall, I made pies in jam jars today and it was WONDERFUL! Super easy too.
I <3 Jars....
Sorry if they have already been mentioned but without the lids A few things are coming to my mind
CandleHolders
Hanging Candle Holders ( all you would need is a little wire) I have seen them done with String Lights too
Vases of course ( use it as is or you could paint ...wrap it with burlap or other fabric. You could decorate it with wide ribbon or even scrapbook paper ) or you could decoupage it
Utensil Holders (depending on the size)
Cups ( our favorite Cups in my house are the Small Apple Butter size mason jars)
I just posted a post where they took jars and made apocathery Jars out of them...(you would need the lids)
Jars also make great beauiful storage
@RainStorm: I'm just relieved I'm not the only one compulsively hoarding jars. I'm also hoarding empty cardboard toilet paper rolls for "crackers" as favors. I'm going to have make a list for the fridge before my fiance gives up and just starts leaving little garbage piles on the counter for me to sort through lol
@MrsDulce: Jars are so useful... and with the toilet paper rolls those are super useful and you would be suprised at the beautiful crafty things from something so simple... like Napkin rings and "faux metal artwork"
@FutureMrs.Harless: Luckily I have a craft area with bins so I can stash all this stuff, but I agree! I keep seeing things and thinking..."oooh...we're going to be able to use that!" I keep repurposing things for wedding crafts!
@MrsDulce: So glad to hear I'm not alone! I don't quite know how it started, but now it's become a compulsion!

In the last few months, I've started conpulsively cleaning and collecting jars (jam, chocolate spread, dips, curry sauces, etc). The problem is, I don't know what to do with them. Any day soon, my OH is going start asking about the growing collection so I really need some ideas as to what I can do with them. I know I could plonk flowers in for centre pieces, but what else? Inventive and imaginative ideas please!
