Hi Bees! Happy Friday to everyone! I am trying to figure something out…
I bought my dress very early, and it was delivered to the salon in November. It has remained there, as no major alterations are needed, except for the bustle and shortening of the straps.
As of yet, the only accessories I have are my veil and shoes. I am in the process of buying jewelry, headpieces, a wrap, etc. It is difficult to make dress appointments to try things on with my dress. I work pretty much every day but Sunday, when they are closed of course. They also close at 5, when I leave work, and the salon is 45 minutes away.
I am considering taking my dress home with me, to try on with jewelry, etc. I would take it back in when it is time for my fitting and steaming.
Do you see any issue with this? I am not sure why I feel a little nervous about taking it home.

I don’t see a problem with it, unless you have some special circumstance at home where it could get messed up or something. I had my dress at home, hanging in the closet, for months before I took if to my first fitting a couple weeks ago. I liked having it at home, that way I could look at it whenever I wanted, and it does help with picking out accessories and whatnot.

I don’t see an issue with it as long, as the store does allow you to bring it back for your fitting and steaming. The store were I bought mine does free steaming and does the fitting when you come in, but if you take it with you and don’t let them hold it till a week before the wedding (unless you are getting alterations) they will not give you the free steaming and will not allow you to bring it back to hold till a week before the wedding. Just make sure you don’t let your FI see it, you care about that, and don’t drag it on dirt, and I think you should be fine. =]

Nope, not a problem! My dress has been hanging in my closet since March and it’s perfectly fine in it’s garment bag. Just make sure it’s out of reach of dogs or kitties, in a bag, and not near a window! The only problem I have had is with wanting to put it on all the time!
