Even if you have stubbies for nails, a cleaned up nail bed looks 1000x better than a non manicured one. I recommend a nice manicure to clean everything up and either just do a buff and shine or a clear/light colored sheer pink polish. My nails are always super short but I get regular manicures to keep my cuticles clean.
Also, go get cuticle oil, like, immediately, and start applying at LEAST once a day (put it by your bed or in your car so you won't forget). Healthy, moisturized cuticles = healthy pretty nails :)
I would get a manicure and just have them clean up your nails and paint them a solid colour. Mine were pretty short but they were manicured for my e-pics:

Get a manicure, and start taking prenatal vitamins! I took them throughout my engagement so my nails and hair would grow and be strong!
When I have a special occasion to go to and my nails are on the short side (which is often), I get a french manicure with a thin white line. It makes my nails look longer.
Also, just by getting a manicure, your nails will look better and will probably grow a tiny bit before next weekend.
What about fake nails, but not the acrylic kind? they have this really great sticker stuff at walmart by Kiss that really adheres the nail to your finger for DAYS, and they look just as good as acrylics, I think. They don't mess up your nail very much at all. I'm pretty sure they don't really do any damage like with acrylics. That's what I'm doing for my wedding...I got some really great french tip ones with some white nail art and a rhinestone.
@ThePrincessMaggie: I agree 100% and that is prolly what I'll be doing, because working in the ER, we can't have acrylics, and these will look great for about a week or so... Good Luck!!!
@ThePrincessMaggie: I get those all the time for fun, they're really great. Hardly mess up your nails afterwards and I've had mine last longer than a week. I will definitely be using those for my big day!
i'd stay short and go for a pale neutral color so it won't distract from your ring..
When your nails grow out try a gel manicure (if you like a french mani) it doesn't have that thick look like acrylic. It costs a little more than a regular mani but it'll last a month before you need them redone
Since finding out my OH has ordered my ring, I've been looking sadly at my stubby, bitten nails and wondering what to do about it... I'll be following this tread for advice, the nail that is the worst is the one my ring will be going on... typical!!

If you've read my other threads... I am 90% sure that the proposal is coming this next weekend. What should I do with my nails?! The state they are in is NOT ring porn pic worthy! I hate to jack them up with acrylics, but I don't have enough free edge to get a regular mani and make them look pretty. They are all super short at the moment since I broke two of them and cut them all the same. Someone recommended sculptured nails but I don't know much about them. Help me please, Bees! :)
